LB Marcus Freeman (HC Notre Dame, Constant Backtracker)

holy hell, I could deadlift just a little over 405... and that was back in the day when I was lifting all the time for football, I can't imagine hang cleaning that much weight, that would probably break most peoples wrists even trying (if they could even get it off the ground with enough momentum to break their wrists)

that is really, really impressive

This set of LB's could become comparable to the '05 group. Freeman and Grant seemed poised for a breakout year while Laurinaitis will only improve upon last season.
Fixed it for ya. Sorry, but until this season has gone and past I don't think its fair to the '05 group to start saying this years group is already comparable to them based off of weightlifting numbers. This is no knock on this years crew, but Hawk and Carp will go down as two of the greatest linebackers at tOSU, and Schlegel was very solid for the two years he was able to start here.

Well, actually that's what I meant. Guess I could've worded it better.

I've been trying to decide what jersey to get this year, and the more I think about it, the more I'm thinking of getting Freeman's #1 jersey. I really think he should be poised for a breakout year.

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

"I think Marcus Freeman is another guy who stands out to me that's really -- you know, sometimes you see a guy who you feel like the light's come on, and he's excited about this year," Heacock said. "I think he had a good offseason and really focused on becoming a good football player."

Wearing No 1 easier than being it

Jim Naveau | [email protected] - 08.22.2007

COLUMBUS ? Ohio State junior linebacker Marcus Freeman played his way into the starting lineup, but he admits begging and pleading his way into wearing No. 1 on his jersey.
Freeman, who ranked second in tackles for OSU last season with 71 and intercepted two passes, was assigned No. 17 when he arrived at Ohio State.
But he had something else in mind. He had worn No. 2 in high school and wanted to go even lower in college.
?I had to do a lot of begging for this number, but Coach Tressel gave it to me. Hopefully, he doesn?t take it away,? Freeman said. ?There is a little extra pressure, but I like it a lot and want to keep it.?
Freeman started 11 of Ohio State?s 13 games last season, an indication of the depth the Buckeyes had at linebacker. Only James Laurinaitis started all 13 games among the linebackers in 2006.

Rolling them through
Junior outside linebacker Marcus Freeman will be the fourth captain today, joining regulars James Laurinaitis, Kirk Barton and Dionte Johnson. But Freeman will still split time at the strong-side position with sophomore Ross Homan. Linebackers coach Luke Fickell said that's because both have earned it.

"Right now, both need to play," he said.

He also wants to get Austin Spitler into the game a little more at middle linebacker in relief of Laurinaitis.

"He deserves it the way he's played and the way he's practiced," Fickell said.

'Princess' keeps Freeman happy

Ohio State linebacker says 9-month-old Bria 'puts everything in perspective.'

COLUMBUS ? Aynsley Collier knows some mothers who have been left to raise children by themselves after unplanned pregnancies, and she wondered whether the same fate awaited her when she found out she was carrying Marcus Freeman's baby.
But the Ohio State linebacker is doing more than just accepting the responsibility of being a father ? he's embracing it.

Junior ?backer Marcus Freeman makes his voice heard

By VR Bryant

Ask Marcus Freeman how hes been playing so far this year, and hell tell you.

Average. Im just trying to get better each week.

Without a flinch or a bat of an eyelash, hell tell you he has been average. Before we continue, lets clear a few things up. Hes second on the team in tackles, third in tackles for loss, has two pass break-ups, a sack, and has been doling out highlight reel hits all season long.
