Yea I feel the same way about you!!! You know I cannot believe some of you posters, did I bash the kid NO, did I say he should not start NO!!! I just said with his size and speed he should be outside maybe. I just have never seen any team run up the middle on OSU like Navy did. So you agree with all our starters and the position they are playing. You or any other poster never question the coaches play calling or players?
Well, thank you for sharing your wisdomness with us.

It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog. I was surprised by his lack of size in comparison to the players around him.

Wow, I think you guys totally missed the boat on buck2006's comments. He has good points. Do you really think 215 is ideal for a MLB against big time competition? Maybe you do, but it's far from being an off-the-wall type of opinion the way everyone is making it sound. He may be wrong when he hinted toward it having an impact on the Navy game (since they are a smaller team) but I think I would rather have Spitler shedding blocks from USC's fullbacks than Rolle. Agree or disagree, but there is no reason to flame him for giving his opinion.

I will agree that 215 is not the ideal weight for a mike backer but I don't know if you watched the game because Mr. Rolle was making plays all over the field. I will take production over whatever weight he is. It doesn't matter what he weighs as long as he produces and he looked like one of our best players on Saturday and that is all that matters. Like others have said heart is something you can't measure in weight , but I will take a 215 guy with a ton of heart and passion for the game over a 245 guy that plays soft.

First, with regards to Navy's ability to run up the middle against OSU, please note the extra-wide splits that they used. This extra spacing makes it easier for them to find lanes in the middle of the line.

Second, please understand that it's the DL's job to keep would-be blockers off of the LBs as much as possible.

Third, please note that Navy's OL relied heavily on cut-blocks, which can take down even the biggest and baddest DLs.

Fourth, please also note Navy's offensive scheme which employs numerous fakes and changes in direction to cause a defense to read and react rather than attack.

Lastly, after having points 1-4 explained to you, then you should understand that any LB not hammering runners at the line of scrimmage in that game does not indicate those LBs were not up to the task. Rather it indicates that the task was difficult, and that his results indicate that he had a good deal of success in that game.

Regarding his size and speed, I think a lot of people would tend to agree that OLB would appear to be a more ideal position for him rather than MLB. But the fact that the coaches started him at MLB should indicate that the coaches felt he was the best player to man that position.

Don't forget some rather undersized players have had fine careers in positions where they might seem out of place. Off of the top of my head, Zach Thomas jumps to the forefront. He's been a 5'11 MLB for many years in the NFL, and I doubt he played much above 220 lbs (if at all) while he was in college.

Also note that the other two linebackers (on both of Dobb's runs) were lined up outside of the d-ends, meaning that Rolle was alone in the middle. So he had a guard and a leading fullback to contend with on those plays.

AND as a whole we held Navy to 100 yards below their rushing average from last year. Rolle played well in the middle on Saturday.

These are much better examples of the type of well thought classy responses I would expect out of OSU fans on this board :)

I still don't think it's as clear cut as others that have posted feel. Though fwiw I lean toward liking Rolle at MLB personally because I usually like to have the best LB in position to make the most plays and I think that's Rolle this year.

I think the argument that Rolle had a good game against Navy so it was obviously the right choice is pretty rediculous though. The question is who is the best option. I bet Spitler would have been productive at MLB against Navy too but that doesn't mean he would be the best option.

With his team up two points and just over two minutes left in his first game as a starter for Ohio State, former Immokalee star Brian Rolle was in the right place at the right time ? and that wasn?t by accident.

Rolle intercepted a potential game-tying 2-point conversion attempt from Navy quarterback Ricky Dobbs and returned it 98 yards to end Navy?s threat and help his team a 31-27 victory.

?Pre-snap I was thinking if they come out in this formation they?re in trouble,? Rolle said. ?Then they came out and ran the same play we?d been practicing against all week and I?m thinking, ?This is crazy.? When they snapped the ball I knew where the receivers were going and I just went after the ball.?

Dobbs was in disbelief when asked about the play after the game.

?The guy came out of nowhere,? Dobbs told reporters. ?I don?t know how he broke on it.?

The interception and the remarkable return quickly became a fixture on highlight reels across the country.

Rolle said by the time he had showered and left the locker room to return home, his phone was full of voicemail and text messages from friends and family.

?I had almost 70 missed calls and text messages after the game,? he said. ?I didn?t answer my phone that night. It was just crazy, call after call. My phone hasn?t stopped ringing yet.?

Thank you!!!! We all know the kid can play and should!!! Just thought at 215 and his speed would be great as an OLB. Remember USC's smallest RB is 215 also, may Rolle win all these battles in the hole!!! The coaches talked about why Rolle cannot play SLB this week, said they just did not think with Rolle being 5' 11" and his weight would be able to take on the TE so SLB is not position they think he could play. In the end I am just glad he is a Buckeye and look forward to being in the shoe today and watch him play along with the rest the Buckeyes!!! Go Bucks!!!!!!
