LB Bobby Carpenter (All B1G, National Champion)

Bobby made me proud to be a Buckeye. I have been telling my fiance who is a huge Browns fan that I hope we can steal him in the 2nd round. He would make a perfect OLB in a 3-4 wouldn't he?

But if the Michigan game was his last game in pads for the Buckeyes that would be a pity as you can really tell by his emotion Saturday afternoon that he left everything out on that field during this whole year and his career here.

Imagine what he would have been able to do if he wasn't hurt at all this year. It just makes what he did this yearthat much better and like people have been saying the past few days, it will make him a legend at Ohio State.

What a pleasure it has been to watch Bobby play for the past 4 years. When he went down in our first defensive play, everyone in the room where I was watching was horrified, especially when they showed that shot of him walking in the tunnel with the trainer. Then, to see him emerge with a 'boot' on and crutches! What a shame for him - he's been aiming for this game for years, and was forced to watch from the sidelines. Then to see his face when the first teammate came over to speak with him, god that was sad.

And yet, through all of that, Carpenter kept his pads on. He was a presence on the sidelines, firing up the troops. He participated in The Game, as an active sideline presence. I firmly believe his injury, and subsequent presence on the sidelines fired up the Buckeyes and was a real factor in victory.

Thank you Bobby Carpenter!!

Selfishly I'm hoping that this injury will drop Bobby to the Browns pick in the second round, solely because I don't think their first round pick will be in a position to get Hawk or Carp. I was at the game yesterday and everyone started cheering when Fraser made a tackle. Browns fans will embrace any local player (ie. Frye, Cribbs, and Fraser) so Savage needs to make it a point to draft a Buckeye here and there.

I'm not sure how serious of an injury Carp has, but it would seem that he would have a chance to be back for the bowl game given a normal 6 week healing period. That would take him till December 31, but he wouldn't have much time to get in shape for the game.

God Damn, DBB, that is about the best fucking post I have ever read...I shit you not.

Definitely the best post I've read here (and there's a lot of good stuff posted everyday). It would be great if someone could arrange for this thread to be sent to Bobby to show him just how much the Buckeye Nation loves him and appreciates the sacrafices he's made for his teammates this season in becoming a Buckeye legend. Perhaps this could lift him up a little in his coming rehabilitation.

Here's to Bobby Carpenter, a true Buckeye....and someone get this man a great post award if he hasn't already. :osu:

I am hearing through the grapevine that he's gonna play in the bowl. Course it might be horseshit, but that would rock. I was just mentioning the other day after he got hurt, that opening kickoff of the 02 season when he made the tackle inside the 20. Talk about a start eh? Think he will make a fabulous pro linebacker, no doubt.

I don't want him to hurt himself worse and lose his some what high draft status to play in the bowl game but I heard the same thing from Tressel that he should be back. That would be awesome to see him have a huge bowl game and go out a hero (not that he isn't one already; he's one of the all time greats to play at tOSU). Ohio State and all of us will miss seeing him play next year but maybe we will see him start on Sundays for one of our favorite NFL teams! That would be great.

This is a sweet thread. Is there any way some of the photoshop master out there could make some visual tributes to Carp? I'd love a new wallpaper to get me pumped for the bowl game.

Bobby Carpentor injury

I agree with you all that BC should get a medal for his outstanding performance the last 4 years. Has there been any word on his injury and if he will play in a bowl game.

So much to admire about our senior linebackers... focus, intensity, an obviously incredible work ethic, and outright glee at being part of it all. The camaraderie between these young men is admirable. Heck, I just like 'em.

I saw a picture of Bobby once that reminded me very strongly of my brother... if my brother hadn't wimped out of football in jr. high. Maybe that's why he seems like extended family... or maybe it's because that's just what it feels like to be a Buckeye. Whatever the reason, it was heatbreaking to watch him be part of the action in spirit but not body. Cheers to Bobby. May his leg heal quickly, so that he can hit all the harder to soothe the injury of not being on the field where he so obviously belongs.

My all-time favorite buckeye. Can't believe I didn't see this thread earlier. I second someones earlier motion that this entire thread should be sent to him. Hell if i knew how I'd sent my own personal email thanking and congratulating him. True Buckeye. Good luck in the league Bobby.:osu:
