LB A.J. Hawk (2x All-American, Lombardi Trophy, National Champion, Super Bowl Champion)

Thanks, scooter - good meeting you too.

I wandered your lot for a little while but didn't see any BPers. It was raining at that point and not too many folks were out and about. Then I met my nephew and we went to the game.

Afterwards, I was trying to meet up with another BP'er that had PM'ed me before the game, but we missed each others' cell calls until about an hour after the game, when I was already on the road because I had to head home for family reasons. I think the cell phone networks got swamped the first half hour after the game let out.

Another awesome game by AJ! (just to somewhat cover the topic). :wink2:

I don't know that they promised us that our homer votes would pick the winner. Maroney was the best player of the week. Hawk was great as usual, but we could have won without him... not the same story without Maroney.

Linked

The award was decided by a vote of the USATODAY.com sports staff after Maroney was selected by college football editor Erick Smith, Gannett News Service columnist Mike Lopresti chose South Florida's Amarri Jackson and the fan survey tabbed Ohio State's A.J. Hawk.

Add this to the list of things that don't matter in the grand scheme of things, but still make you scratch your noodle.

That's why I don't do these online vote award/polls, etc. anymore. After Brutus got robbed in the Mascot thing a year or two ago I decided that if the vote doesn't really count then why waste my time.

read the first paragraph on that link

Each week during the season, readers can participate in the selection of USATODAY.com's Player of the Week. Choices will be made available on Sunday night and voting closes at noon ET on Tuesday. Reader voting counts one-third toward the overall winner, with votes from USATODAY.com college football editor Erick Smith and Gannett News Service columnist Mike Lopresti also counting one-third each.

so basically millions of people vote on a poll with the winner getting the "one-third" vote and the other two votes are decided by 2 guys that get their own vote each
