One of my wife's favorite romantic comedies. Back when Water Matthau was alive, Meg Ryan was cute, and Tim Robbins wasn't overtly insane.

The Watch - Surprisingly funny, didn't try to be taken seriously at all.

Looper - Pretty original, despite the fact it didn't seem like it from the trailer. Very Inception'y.

Total Recall - Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel. Pretty decent remake IMO, entertaining movie for the most part.

Low budget Norwegian film about a Hulder (a creature from Scandinavian folklore similar to a wood nymph/hamadryad). Liked it when I saw it in the theater and still dig it on BluRay. Probably not best for kids as she's essentially naked throughout the entire film.

I don't know what possesses me to watch terribly depressing movies at 5:00 on Saturday mornings. Not Dancer in the Dark painful, but still brutal.

Tilda Swinton is fantastic.

Stupid link......."We need to talk about Kevin" was the movie.

Saw this over the weekend. Thought it was A+ in general, and Tilda was amazing. Didn't think it was "depressing" in the traditional sense, just more a study of a sociopathic kid from the mother he left behind, which was a nice angle to take with it (probably want to check out the book now). So not a "feel good story of the summer" by any means, but more interesting than depressing for me. A lot of it was "Tilda and get out of the way", but she was good enough to carry it. One of my favorite recent views and yet again continually reminding me why American movies suck alligator pole compared to most European and Asian films over the last 2 decades (with a few notable exceptions). Solid 4/5, I really liked it.

Previews make it seem more action packed than it is, but would still recommend it. I wouldn't mind seeing it again (DVD/Blu-ray), as it does jump around a little bit & I might have missed some things. The cast also lived up to expectations for me.

just finished Moneyball. out of curiosity i checked out the web. got this gem from Forbes

Lastly, the ?efficiency? column simply divides each team?s cost per win by the league?s median cost-per-win. So an efficiency ratio of 120% would imply that the team is 20% more efficient than the league?s median club. Likewise, an efficiency ratio of 90% means that the team is 10% less efficient than the league?s median club.

no wonder the economy is in the shitter...

Still one of my favorites. It's a nice view into pre-PC days Navy culture as well as early 70's culture in genera ("Isn't there at least one thing about Richard Nixon's policies that you don't agree with?!"). It's also a good reminder that at one time Jack Nicholson was a fine actor and not just JACK NICHOLSON PLAYING A CHARACTER AS JACK NICHOLSON.

PS the cover is a bit of false advertising, the movie itself is not at all homoerotic.
