Not Denzel's best movie. It starts out great (i.e. nude girl and then the nifty crash sequence) and goes downhill fast. Almost two hours of watching Washington drink and the corrupt airline/union bosses trying to get the FTSB to not know that Washington is an alcoholic. Predictable ending, he decides to stop lying about being a drunk and goes to prison.

"The Iron Lady"

I'll admit Meryl Streep deserved the Oscar for this one, really a great performance as Maggie, but Jim Broadbent as her husband Denis was phenomenal (as he always is). I thought it was an interesting decision to frame the movie as the memories of an elderly Margaret Thatcher dealing with dementia, but that made her family relationships the real heart of the movie.

Wasn't bad, but wasn't great...DVD rental movie.

Skyfall was a disappointment. Lot's of plot elements used as weak thread for an "experience" rather than to tell a story.

It honestly felt like Chris Nolan's Batman movies without the heart. I wouldn't suggest spending any money to see this one.

I liked it a little better than you did, however I left the movie wondering if Bond was revealed as being bisexual:

Re: The gay villain, Silva, has Bond tied to a chair, and in examining his wounds, gets more than a little touchy-feely. In an obviously sexual interest in Bond, Silva says, "There's a first time for everything."
To which Bond answers, "How do you know this would be my first time?"

I realize now that it sounded like I really hated it.

Pros of this movie include Roger Deakins, who's one of if not THE best DP in the business. Easily the most beautifully shot Bond film (I've seen). Definitely a step up from Quantum of Solace's shaky cameras and poorly framed action scenes.

Casino Royale is still the best of the Daniel Craig movies by a hair. Just something about the overall feel and pace of the movie. It felt good. Skyfall felt choppy and missing something to me.

Javier Bardem was pretty damn good and Dame Judi stellar as always. It had its moments for sure, but in terms of potential I was sorely disappointed.

Did I mention it wasn't Quantum of Solace.

Quantum of Solace sucked.

Information I could have used yesterday before I bought it.......

Perhaps a TSUN forum would provide you more efficient information gathering in crucial areas. I mean if it bugs you to watch a movie where people are wearing Buckeye gear occasionally, having to stick around a Buckeye site for all general discussion topics must be causing you a great deal of anguish.

Jiro Dreams of Sushi - on Netflix. HIGHLY recommend if you like foreign films. Story about an 87 year old Sushi Master who has spend his entire life looking for perfection in the simple art of placing fish on rice. Very inspiring.
