Over the Top. It was on Starz & I couldn't possibly resist. Easily one of my favorite 80's movies for several reasons.

Been watching mostly Breaking Bad. Just started into the final season. But the show is amazing.

Movies sprinkled in here and there:

Bad Grandpa.....pretty funny for Jackass type stuff.

Killing Them Softly.....Thought it was ok. Brad Pitt was pretty good in it.

Filth.......gritty British cop movie with James McAvoy. Was kind of out there, but I really like him as an actor.

22 Jump Street......It was what it was. Thought it was pretty funny, actually

Sex Tape.......another silly movie that had some funny parts. Cameron Diaz has a banging body for a 40 year old.

Transformers: Age of Extinction........Dinobots were pretty cool. Movie as a whole was subpar

A Million Ways to Die in the West......... Had it's moments, but overall disappointing.

Neighbors.........Not as funny as I expected, but I liked the story. Overall I thought it was solid.

Chef.......by far the best movie I have seen in awhile. Probably because I use to be a chef so I really identified with the main character getting burnt out and going off on a food critic. Highly recommend if you get the chance to see it. Written and directed by, and also starring John Favreu of Swingers fame.

'Gone Girl'...very disappointing.

I'm a huge Fincher fan and have enjoyed pretty much everything he's ever done. Pairing him with a Trent Reznor/Atticus Ross score has been gold. But this was a major misfire to me. The first 2/3 of the movie were engaging enough, but it totally lost me in the 3rd act. Story becomes totally implausible and it becomes filled with ham-fisted performances. Plus one of the most out of place, overly gory scenes I've ever seen. It's getting rave reviews, and I'm usually one of the few people that tend to agree with reviewers, but I don't see it. Just about everybody walking out of the theatre was saying "I don't know what to make of that." 4/10

Personally I very much enjoyed it.....I thought the female lead did a great job, I thought it was a 'meh' performance by Affleck though. It was pretty unpredictable (I never read the book...) and like you I'm a Fincher fan.

Anyone seen The Equalizer? I'm sure it's the typical Denzel movie but Fuqua's films tend to have good action.

Jesus, I watched an Australian indie last night called "daddy's little girl". Revenge porn on steroids, the guy gets worked the whole second half of the movie. Makes Hostel look tame. Not for the squeamish.

I thought she was great for the first 2/3 of the movie. But, in the last 1/3, she became really "campy" IMO. Was probably the material she had to work with. I don't want to spoil the end for anyone, so I won't say much, but I thought it was just plum dumb. I actually thought Affleck was really good...as he usually is in the right roles. He made me think of Scott Peterson the whole time.

Meh. It had a moment or two I guess, but I can't say it was particularly scary or well done. Overall it was too amateurish and the wrap story that was supposed to tie the rest together (a group is hired to steal a VHS tape and they end up watching these other stories) doesn't wrap anything together at all. It's just guys that break into a house and watch random VHS tapes they find.
