World's most famous/infamous cyclist finally admits he has been living a lie for 20 years after destroying many peoples' lives, fabricating stories, doing interviews, making himself into a false hero.. and we're talking about how Jake did or did not separate Armstrong from Capone in his quote. I think the point was that Armstrong is a bad dude even though he raised money for cancer.

Back to the [Mark May] that's important..
That is if you value those other things over raising money for cancer.

And the careers of a lot of his teammates/associates too.

His teammates ruined their own careers

He compared Al Capone to Lance Armstrong. Then said the money raised by Armstrong was "blood money".

Im sorry man, I love sports, but there was need be no comparison between those two guys.

As for Armstrong, did he cheat? Yup. Did he lie? Yup. Did he ruin anyones LIFE? Not only no, but HELL NO! Its a sport, he ruined only his career.

Actually he did ruin e careers of others. It was discussed and linked earlier in this thread. Those who spoke of his doping were torn to shreds and careers were absolutely ruined. Now, does that mean he's Al Capone? No, but he was FAR worse than a cheater. His means of silencing those in the industry that didn't keep their silence on their own was ruthless. So...ummm....HELL YES HE DID.

I should've typed "reputations." Let's continue talking about things that don't matter.

Backstep much? :roll1:

Let's get something straight, right now. Up until now I've been one of LA's strongest supporters here, and will likely continue to be so. That said, he has lost a lot of credibility in my mind, and deserves any backlash for his lying. That still shouldn't detract from the good he's done with his foundations...

Ahhh, I see what you did there - matching my caps locked words to make a point.Man that is so clever, new, and I have never seen anything like it.

My point is that Armstrong was surrounded by cheaters that dug their own graves when they decided to cheat. Him doping or playing with his own blood was a decision that put his career in jeopardy. If his teammates have nothing to hide than there is no way his team's careers are ruined.

(As a military member) If one of my bros gets busted for drugs then says Im doing them as well the AF will test me. If Im clean than all they are, are accusations because I have nothing to hide. Same goes for Armstrong's team, dont cheat and they have nothing to worry about for themselves even if Armstrong makes accusations against them. If I accuse you of being a drug dealer, does it make it true?

JFC...hyperbole much? Tell me just one person whose life Armstrong "destroyed"...

Destroyed is subjective... maybe hyperbole. I think he clearly ruined people's lives. He was not Capone but he's clearly a bad guy and he did go after people with intent to do financial harm for questioning his success - through slander lawsuits and blacklisting. Maybe he got caught up in it and couldn't stop. Maybe he's some kind of sociopathic liar.

How is it that you are missing the point..no one gives a shit about his cheating, what we are saying is that he actively moved to completely discredit those that challenged his claim to be clean. And was so vindictive that he ruined some careers in the process. Some of those he ruined weren't cyclists, just other people within the e industry. His level of leverage was such that he actually had the power to substantially impact careers. How anyone can be "ok" with that is beyond me.

I dont know if I support his acts of challenging his challengers, but I do understand it.

His earlier challengers unfortunately didnt have the necessary evidence to make their claims stick. Without evidence they just came off as jealous people that only felt liek something was wrong. That or they heard from their cousins brothers high school friend that he was cheating. It wasnt until recently that someone has enough evidence to actually pin Armstrong down and get a confession from him.

Again, evidence is everything when making accusations. If you dont have it you are going to fall flat on your face. "Trust but verify."

Personally I will keep my opinions on this hot button topic to myself...except for the fact that I don't like the media whore approach to this "revelation", either from Lance's end or Oprah's end.

I'm confused. They came off as "jealous people," but they were right. Many of them were eyewitnesses. One of them heard him admit to using. Lance went to great lenghths make these people out to be vindictive jealous liars. And the whole time he was the vindictive liar. Right?

I don't care whether they had evidence, my point is that Lance attempted to eviscerate these people when he knew he was the one lying. It would be one thing if he stayed silent our at least modestly polite, but he wasn't. He was a menace... He's not a good guy, end of story. I don't care that he doped, as we all know, everyone doped and Lance still destroyed them all, so I see him as an incredible athlete. Unfortunately he equally destroyed careers and is surely a more incredible menace because of it.

I suspect his payback is coming though as those he worked so hard to discredit will be seeking financial penalties for his efforts.
