Maybe we can convince @Tomateaux Quinoa Gumbeaux to open a restaurant on High Street, call it Tomateaux Gumbeaux Columbeaux or something....
I was just going to reference him but I am glad I didn't. Yours was way better than what I had loaded up. J Gumbo's, whilst a chain now, was one of my favorite lunch spots on High Street. Me and my buds went there all the time and I miss it so much. But not sure they have any motivation to give Stewart NIL money to go to OSU.

Too soon old, too late smart
Hey RB, am curious as to why you opine that tOSU wouldn't offer any NIL to Stewart? Thought he would be a prime specimen for the DL? Although I have to say it's refreshing to hope that a recruit might come to a school for the experience/training/life lessons than a pile of cash. Probably just whistling past the cemetary. Thanks in advance for clearing my fog away.

I think if you expect any recruit to come to any D1 school without any financial incentive, it’s almost like you expecting to take a full time job for nothing more than the “experience/training/life lessons”. It ain’t happening, and honestly should’ve never been allowed to continue for so long. No way would I ever let my child attend a school in this day and age if they’re an athlete(especially at the D1 level) and not expect some type of NIL deal. Especially knowing how much the coaches make and many times how much these boosters make. You can’t take a kid to Jeff Rubys and let him order anything from the menu, and then play poor
And from reading RB’s post again, I think he’s referring to J. Gumbos restaurant not offering NIL.

That's exactly where I was going, I loved J. Gumbos and worked up an appetite...was just joking around a little but yeah, there is no tie to the university. I think we would certainly open the war chest on NIL to get this kid, he would be a game changer on the OL.
Agreed on the NIL though, it is just going to be a factor with kids of this caliber. Perhaps not the sole determining factor, but a big factor.

This weekend’s visitor list just got more interesting.
Five-star 2025 defensive tackle Jahkeem Stewart confirmed he’ll attend Ohio State’s matchup against Nebraska on Friday, making the weekend pivotal for defensive line coach Larry Johnson.
Stewart recently reclassified from the 2026 class to the 2025 cycle, so a decision is on the horizon within the next few months for the Louisiana prospect. Per 247Sports’ composite rankings, Stewart is considered the No. 16 prospect and No. 3 defensive lineman in the 2025 class.
Stewart visited Oregon earlier this month for the Ducks’ win over the Buckeyes and is also heavily pursued by the likes of USC and LSU. The 6-foot-6, 270-pound prospect will take visits to LSU and USC this fall and also plans to return to Oregon in November for another visit, per On3. This weekend is the first of two planned trips to Columbus for Stewart, who will return in November for an official visit for the Michigan game.
Stewart has long been linked to Johnson and Ohio State, as he’s visited Columbus various times over the past year, most recently in June to work out with Johnson and graduate assistant coach LaAllan Clark at a recruiting camp.
“I feel like I could fit perfectly in the defense,” Stewart told Eleven Warriors of OSU in June. “With the technique Coach Johnson’s teaching, and me being the person I am, my second effort, I want it more than a lot of these kids out here. The majority of these kids out here, majority of these men out here, no disrespect, it's going to be a lot of trying to just block me and compete with me for four quarters. And with Coach Johnson's mindset, we'll do great things together.”
This is Johnson’s first opportunity this fall to make a strong impression on the Louisiana prospect, and the fact he’s visiting twice in five weeks indicates strong interest in the Buckeyes on Stewart’s end. Still, this figures to be a prominent recruitment that goes down to the wire.

I would love to be wrong about this one. But I don't see him coming to OSU. There's too much money he'd leave on the table coming to OSU. Oregon and LSU are going to be bidding easily in the 7 figures for this kid. I don't see any OSU NIL collective coming together for that. And I really don't blame them. He's set to miss his junior AND senior seasons...

The word coming out of Stewart’s visit to Ohio State is that the Buckeyes feel “really good” about where they stand in his recruitment and that Oregon and Ohio State have emerged as the two front-runners right now. Those have been the two visits the New Orleans (La.) Edna Karr five-star defensive end has taken so far with LSU and USC also very high on the list but anyone who thinks he’s a lock to LSU because he’s from there could be seriously mistaken.
I would love to be wrong about this one. But I don't see him coming to OSU. There's too much money he'd leave on the table coming to OSU.
