King bumps his gums on the pickle

Looks like Holmgren didnt feel comfortable taking someone to start opposite Wright in the top ten either.

Great move, love it. I know the Browns talked about bringing him in a few years ago around the same time all the Ty Law talk was going on. Spend those picks getting some weapons on offense.

Yeah love the trade too... get a good CB to pair with Wright and another LB.

Now the question comes down to this... if Berry isn't there at #7 what the heck do the Browns do?

Seems like trading down becomes the #1 option cuz the value of who would fit would be best to pick in the 13-20 area. And who would we target?

Its Clausen time, take Nate Allen in the second and someone like Damien Williams will be there in the third.

STL Bradford
DET Okong
TB Suh
WAS Baluga
KC Berry
SEA McCoy
CLE Clausen/trade down

*Heard Spiels say that Washington would land bradford, he gauranteed it. Would make things interesting.

...It'll be hammer time long before it ever becomes Clausen time. It's not going to happen with this front office. Period.

I remember telling my Steeler-centric son (daveeb).

I'm sorry, I won't comment on how he was raised because I'm confident you tried your hardest to not let this happen.

If you are looking to adopt a Browns football "son" though- I'm free to a good wing-eating, beer drinking home

I dont know, people are starting to like him a lot now, everyone from front office guys to hated opponents are talking about how they love his attitude and skills.

A front-office executive for another AFC team had a different take: ?He can throw the ball downfield. He?s the perfect Raiders quarterback, what Al [Davis] has been dreaming about for years. I don?t want to like him, but I do. I mean, just look at him ? when you see that guy, you just want to punch him.?

“I thought he was a little b****,” Mays admitted Thursday. “Before we played him, we watched highlights of him playing in Hawaii in the [2008 Hawaii Bowl], and he [made the aloha sign with his hand]. We wanted to beat the crap out of him.

“He’s still got the same personality, but I know him now, and I like him. He thinks he’s sweet, but he is good – I can’t take that away from him. I can see why his teammates like him. They respect how seriously he takes the game, and they respect his work ethic. I take him seriously, too.”

Seriously, King, the Browns aren't taking him and they shouldn't. They have other issues to deal with first.

We don't need another domer QB. Fuck Ntre Ame.

Hey, thats fine. But, remember I was the one saying we werent going to take a corner with the 7th pick and you guys were telling me I was wrong. I thiknk Holmgren was blowing smoke, after his comments about winning four games with a terrible passing game I dont think he goes into the season without a big gun.

Holmgren isn't stupid enough to pick a QB on a team with so many other needs. Clausen isn't a West Coast QB and Holmgren is smart enough to realize that too.

Look at the AFC North. Having a good QB doesn't win games, having a defense that can dominate the others' offense will win the division.

I'm thinking they are going to trade down. Clausen isn't worth the 7th pick and neither will any of the DBs at that point in the draft. Let some other team take the risks of yet another overrated Ntre Ame Fat Boy Weis QB. The Browns did that and didn't get squat for it. If this year's QB draft class had any depth or any actual stars he would be a 2nd rounder at best.

Lol, What? Big Ben, Palmer, Flacco.......I agree a great defense would be awesome to have, but look at the big picture. The great teams, not just in the AFC North have great QBs. If you dont think Clausen will be very good, that is fine, but to act like its all about defense and has very little to do with a QB is assanine.

And jus because Clausen went to Notre Dame doesnt mean he is Brady Quinn, the two are completely different players.

All those teams run the ball and play defense. Big Ben is the best of the group and he's not exactly a top 3 QB in the league :slappy:

How did the Bungles make the playoffs last year? How did the Ravens?

Neither team won by getting into shootouts with teams. They won it by playing very strong defense (Baltimore was 3rd and Cincy 6th in points allowed per game) and doing just enough on offense to get by.

Why didn't Pittsburgh get into the playoffs? Because their defense went from giving up 13.9 points a game in 2008 to giving up nearly a full TD more per game in 2009.

It's about defense. That's what wins the AFC North. Not taking over-rated and pampered Ntre Ame QBs.

More stats for your dumb ass. You realize that in the Squeelers Super Bowl years (2005 and 2008), Big Ben wasn't anywhere NEAR the best QB in the league, and wasn't even in the top 20 in the league in 2008 and in 2005, while he was 3rd in overall rating, that was a very controlled offense with nearly half the attempts as his fellow QBs (he barely qualified to be rated that year).

Meanwhile, in 2005 Pittsburgh had the 3rd best scoring defense while in 2008 they had the best.

Still don't think it's about running the ball and defense? Too bad, because in both of those years, Pittsburgh was top 5 in rushing offense as well.

And jus because Clausen went to Notre Dame doesnt mean he is Brady Quinn, the two are completely different players.
Both are Weis QBs. Both have the same sense of entitlement. There's a reason Tom Brady had his best ever year as a QB after Fatboy went to Ntre Ame.

where did he ever act entitled? I think you are just making things up because you dont like him. Its okay because he rubbed me the wrong way but like you guys asked me to do I am providing facts and sources backing up my statement that he is not a d-bag. You are just giving me some of your personal feelings. And where did Quinn ever act like that? That dude took everything like a man and didnt complain at all. I dont like ND or Weis, but they are completely different players, I have provided numerous sources refrencing that. I only ask that you do the same buckeye mike.

Maybe, but New England hasn't won a Super Bowl since the Fat One left

I don't want Claussen to go to the Browns, frankly. That doesn't mean I think Delhomme or Wallace are the best leaders, but it's a step in the right direction. They need a veteran QB that isn't going to have the jitters in this offense that hasn't exactly operated with a lot of confidence. If the Browns do draft a rookiee, hopefully he sits for a few years till he's ready and if they think he's ready, commit to it, or if the current QB is getting it done then leave him in there. I just hope the O-line is better on the right side this year and that they have some playmakers.
