Lol, What? Big Ben, Palmer, Flacco.......I agree a great defense would be awesome to have, but look at the big picture. The great teams, not just in the AFC North have great QBs. If you dont think Clausen will be very good, that is fine, but to act like its all about defense and has very little to do with a QB is assanine.
All those teams run the ball and play defense. Big Ben is the best of the group and he's not exactly a top 3 QB in the league
How did the Bungles make the playoffs last year? How did the Ravens?
Neither team won by getting into shootouts with teams. They won it by playing very strong defense (Baltimore was 3rd and Cincy 6th in points allowed per game) and doing just enough on offense to get by.
Why didn't Pittsburgh get into the playoffs? Because their defense went from giving up 13.9 points a game in 2008 to giving up nearly a full TD more per game in 2009.
It's about defense. That's what wins the AFC North. Not taking over-rated and pampered Ntre Ame QBs.
More stats for your dumb ass. You realize that in the Squeelers Super Bowl years (2005 and 2008), Big Ben wasn't anywhere NEAR the best QB in the league, and wasn't even in the top 20 in the league in 2008 and in 2005, while he was 3rd in overall rating, that was a very controlled offense with nearly half the attempts as his fellow QBs (he barely qualified to be rated that year).
Meanwhile, in 2005 Pittsburgh had the 3rd best scoring defense while in 2008 they had the best.
Still don't think it's about running the ball and defense? Too bad, because in both of those years, Pittsburgh was top 5 in rushing offense as well.
And jus because Clausen went to Notre Dame doesnt mean he is Brady Quinn, the two are completely different players.
Both are Weis QBs. Both have the same sense of entitlement. There's a reason Tom Brady had his best ever year as a QB after Fatboy went to Ntre Ame.
