Kevin (Tim “Asshat” Racadb) Warren (ex-B1G Commissioner)

Going after the commish misses the target. You want football? Mask Up! Keep distance. Close bars and restaurants. But the southeast Ohio pinheads chased the voices of reason out of Columbus. And look at the campuses - Alabama 500 cases in less than a week, PSU had to suspend two frats houses for organizing large parties, OSU rounding up groups and suspending more than 200. The Presidents and the commish made the right call. I hate it, but in the face of a society that refuses to sacrifice in order to defeat a communicable disease, whatcha gonna do?
Well said, cinci.

They had the annual motorcycle rally at Sturgis, South Dakota. Their Govenor said "We are not -- and WILL not -- be the subjects of an elite class of so-called experts,"

And so...
https://abcnews.go.com/US/multiple-states-report-covid-19-cases-linked-sturgis/story?id=72621900

"On Aug. 7, the opening day of the rally, South Dakota had roughly 9,000 COVID-19 cases, according to the health department. By Aug. 26, positive cases had risen to 11,500."

That's 2500 positive cases in 2 weeks. And guess what? They are ONLY TESTING EXTREMELY SICK PEOPLE. Some who are infected but have no symptoms will return to their states and spread it there.

The facts are these: this disease is very contagious, can be very deadly, we don't have all the information we need to fight it and we don't have a vaccine.

And the "how do you know if you don't start the season?" question is answered by "so we wait until people are sick, or people die?"

Don't be this guy:

The stupidity was letting students back on campus if it's so bad they can't play sports. The football team was there for two months and we didn't hear a peep about Covid cases. Why? Because they were tested and staying in a controlled environment. When I heard they were bringing students back to campus I agree with you - it wasn't going to work. College kids will be college kids in dorms, classrooms, bars, etc..

The football team can be isolated - staying together in their own dorm, daily testing, remote classes, no leaving the bubble without permission and isolation upon return. It's safer to play football than to bring thousands of non-athletes back to the dorms. How the geniuses who cancelled football didn't see that problem coming gets back to what I've suspected all along - postponing football was less about Covid and more about losing control of the system.

If that’s the case, I think they’ve severely miscalculated, because they’re going to lose more control of it now.
