Juniors - who stays and who goes?

I think Beanie stays.

I've said this in the rumor mill but I'm pretty sure he's gone and it's more than a hunch. Still a slight possibility he stays but a Draft Party is being counted on right now. Also I think colonel is right on...the cap could influence many players to leave this year but I think it will be a good thing in the long run. I wish the NBA would do this and keep kids in college longer. However, I think with a cap or no cap, if you're going past round 2 it really won't effect your decision. Unless the cap drives the price down on everyone, which I don't think happens. I like it though, less whiney hold outs and more playing football, like it should be.

I think of all the guys listed, he has the most to gain by coming back. If he sticks around, he has an entire year of starting at CB, rather than backing up Chimdi and coming in on nickel situations. The off-field issues definately cut into his PT, seeing as Chimdi jumped over him on the depth chart.

Not the breakout year Donald was hoping for I'm sure. He has a real opportunity, assuming he stays out of trouble, to become an All-Big 10 performer, and really showcase his skills. I don't see how he goes any higher than 4th round in the upcoming draft with a good combine performance.

That's what I thought at first. But the more I think about it, the more it's apparent that DWash has hit his ceiling, and the plays he hasn't made so far he's not going to make by simply staying anther year. He's a fine corner, don't get me wrong, but I think a 3rd 4th round selection is probably where he stands.

I'm not sure I agree. Just having a solid season next year as an every down corner-back would significantly improve his draft stock.

Unlike Brian Hartline, who's a 4th-5th rounder whether he leaves this year or next year.

It takes a special player to start at CB as a sophmore at tOSU. And Donald was coming into his own before the Sugar Bowl last year. His issues with the herb set him back significantly. This was his year to become the next tOSU shutodwn corner. Instead Chimdi got the opportunity and played pretty well. I really think Donald has the talent to get into the second round and have an ALL BIG 10 type year. If that i sthe case, it'd be well worth hi stime to stick around for his senior campaign. There is a huge incentive for players to be taken in the first 3 rounds...

Not to be blunt here, but Beanie would be dumb to stick around......that is if he is trying to make money out of his RB career. An NFL running back has about 4-8 years before their body goes to shit. Add to the fact that Beanie has experienced injuries, and that he is a powerful runner.......that number may shrink. Chances are we won't win a title next year in Columbus, I think it would be his best move to move on. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to see it happen.....I just want to see a good kid make the most of his monetary opportunities in the NFL.......something that most (if not all) of us on this board never can say we had the ability to do.

Don't forget the lack of a lot of guaranteed money in the NFL...(compared to MLB standards).

i think you've missed BN27's true stance on Beanie. Hopefully he comes out with his weekly reminder sometime soon.

Not that I disagree with any of this, it's just that he's had two years to show his stuff even before this season and thus far he's proven to be a very solid but not spectacular. There've been games when he performed very well; last year's Purdue contest comes to mind. But when it was time to make a play in crunch time, I just don't remember him making the big interception or recording the big hit like big time corners do. Add the off the issues on top of this, he's not going in the first two rounds. That's why I tend to think that if he plays well against UT, he might take a chance being a third round pick this year.

In the press conference today, JT said that 6 players filed NFL paperwork in order to have their draft status evaluated.

Hartline, Ballard, Cordle, Coleman, Russell, and Washington.

He added that Beanie didn't need to get the evaluation. :wink2:

Noticed that Lawrence Wilson was not on that list.
He was in the same class as Hartline, Cordle, Washington and Russell.
He has another year of eligibility left. Yet not listed for evaluation.
Do evaluations require a workout or is it just assumed that he will return?
