Nobody has mentioned that the NFL collective bargaining agreement will be renegotiated after this draft, and a rookie salary cap is almost certainly going to come into play in the new agreement. Given that this is the case, you're going to see a ton of juniors come out this year. Even if Wells stays and has a great year next year, he could wind up making substantially less than if he comes out this year.

Were I in his situation, I'd probably go early. I loved college and never wanted to leave, but $50,000,000 is a hell of a lot of money. Even if you only played through the length of your rookie contract, your entire family would be set for life.

Everything has to break just the right way for a player to win a Heisman--his team has to perform extremely well (two losses at the most), he has to have a monster season, he has to play his best when the spotlight is the brightest, he has to stay injury-free, he has to hope no one has a better season than him, etc., etc., etc. Players who come back for their senior season to win the Heisman are betting against the odds in my opinion.

If Adrian Peterson doesn't dive into the end zone and break his collar bone there's one less Heisman in the OSU trophy case. Proof again of what can happen.

In the press conference today, JT said that 6 players filed NFL paperwork in order to have their draft status evaluated.

Hartline, Ballard, Cordle, Coleman, Russell, and Washington.

He added that Beanie didn't need to get the evaluation. :wink2:

Actually the one on that list that I think is more or less gone is Washington (assuming he gets a positive review)....

I think of all the guys listed, he has the most to gain by coming back. If he sticks around, he has an entire year of starting at CB, rather than backing up Chimdi and coming in on nickel situations. The off-field issues definately cut into his PT, seeing as Chimdi jumped over him on the depth chart.

Not the breakout year Donald was hoping for I'm sure. He has a real opportunity, assuming he stays out of trouble, to become an All-Big 10 performer, and really showcase his skills. I don't see how he goes any higher than 4th round in the upcoming draft with a good combine performance.

I hope he does, but I don't think he will. Next year has the potential to have a lot of talent in the draft, he would need to have an amazing year. With the Big12 quarterback flood, it would drop him pretty far. I say he talks, if he's a top 15 pick, he goes, it would be foolish for him not to, this is his financial future.
