Joshua Shaw (official thread)

They will lose some Junir defensive players. CB Joe Haden and DE Carlos Dunlap are two of them... bot are projected high first round draft picks next year, possibly number 1 at their positions. Could also have some other early departures. No Spikes, no Tebow. They'll reload, but they won't be what they are now.

Very true! But my main point was that UF is still recruiting FL extremely well even though they have a number of positions next year which will be manned by Soph and Juniors. UF is still getting some of the best prospects that they want out of FL, and going nationwide for the rest that they want.

If Meyer pulls this off (and it looks more and more likely by the day imo), he did a fantastic job because Shaw was absolutely sold on OSU. I thought he might be building up Florida for suspense at first but with two visits there, it seems like we're losing ground. Hopefully he makes another visit out before deciding.

CB to make college decision earlier than expected

After saying he would wait until Christmas to make his decision, Palmdale (Calif.) defensive back Joshua Shaw has had a change of heart. The talented corner will now make his decision next Tuesday (Nov. 17) at his high school.
...
Ohio State was the early leader for Shaw but the Gators made up a lot of ground following his official visit to the Swamp. The fact that Shaw is ready to make his decision so soon after returning from his recent unofficial visit from Gainesville has led to much speculation that Shaw will be a Gator.

"I'm not saying anything right now," Shaw said. "I have some great options and I really enjoyed the whole process. I don't want to narrow it down to two or three or anything, I'm just going to pick one school. Of course I have a school in mind right now but I'm going to take the next week to let everything sink in and then I'll be ready to go."

He was my favorite DB recruit for 2010, so I'm bummed about this. I knew after he left Cbus without verballing that we were essentially done. It's too bad we didn't have another California recruit in his ear about OSU like UF had with Ronald Powell.

Oh well...

I hate the Gators. Hopefully we can keep Joyner from them. Shaw is a beast -> this one hurts.

I was (and still am) worried about USC's late and sudden interest. I hear rumors that his mom joined him on an unofficial to G-ville recently, and if so, then maybe we do have a good shot.

Either way, he is a good kid who could do far worse than either of our programs. I love our secondary's attitude, but it would be nice to have a little height on the corners for a change.

AJ Wallace, Justin Green, Major Wright, and Darrell Givens are just a few of the high profile DB recruits that we missed out on over the past couple of years. We'll be fine at DB.
Absolutely. Let's not forget DB's like Bryant, Anderson, Joyner and Christian are still out there and I'd be shocked if we don't get at least two of them. We'll be just fine in the secondary if we don't land Shaw.
