A smart kid, and one who recognizes the fantastic opportunity that playing for UF or tOSU presents. His respect and admiration for the Buckeyes is a testiment to your fine coach and program. I'm sure that we will lose a few close ones to y'all too in the days ahead.

These head to heads have a way of evening out when you both have a good program attracting multiple recruits.

Best of luck with the rest of your recruiting.

I'll be happy if both kids get to go where they really wanted to go free from undue influence, if they wind up happy with their choices a year or so later, and can both contribute to their respective programs in a meaningful way.

That is the deal I can agree to without hesitation. I decline to call Mr. Shaw a "loser", as I feel that he would "win" at chosing either of our fine institutions.

I'm talking about Bobbah. But I appreciate the wordy, measured response, especially given how unrespectful the next post will likely be to them :p

Well, I was feeling a little

but now I know you were talking about Bobbah, I admit to having certain feelings about the upcoming FSU game...

Every defensive player committed or considering Florida should be listed as "in play." They lose their Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator. Just about everybody from the staff that they either committed to or are/were being recruited by is gone. This will not be the same staff at all that sold them on the school to begin with.

Actually, they haven't lost Strong yet. Don't believe he has even signed the contract with Louisville, and if offered the job he would accept it. He clearly has been recruiting for Louisville, but the change would give the school plenty of time to go with whomever was their next option (Tuberville?). If Mullens or Strong were hired, they'd be able to keep most of their staff intact. Although guys like Shaw and Powell are most likely gone.

Gator pledge Shaw has no second thoughts
Monday, December 28, 2009
Posted by Greg Biggins

We posted earlier that Florida lean Ronald Powell (Moreno Valley, Calif./Rancho Verde) was planning to reopen his recruitment a bit and was wary of the coaching situation involving head coach Urban Meyer. Is Palmdale (Fla.) defensive back Joshua Shaw having second thoughts as well?

Shaw, one of the elite cornerback prospect in the nation, committed to the Gators over Ohio State and USC back in November. One of the big reasons for his commitment was the fact that he was being recruited personally by Meyer. Many speculated that Shaw could reopen his recruitment after the events of the weekend but things remain status quo for the defensive back.

"Man, I'm a Gator," Shaw said. "My phone has been blowing up with calls from everyone but nothing has changed for me. I'm 100 percent committed to Florida and still plan to enroll early there.

"I'm leaving to Orlando today for the Under Armour Game and once the game is over, I'm just going to stay back there and enroll. That has been my plan all along and that's still the plan.

"When I committed to Florida, coach Meyer was a big part of it but not the only reason. I love the school, the players, the city and everything else about it. Coach Meyer is a great coach and I think he's coming back and I can't wait to play for him. Still even when he said he was stepping down, I was still planning on going to Florida. That's going to be my new home and I'm excited about it."
