At this point...wouldn't there be an equal advantage to all schools? Obviously if somebody is selling one autograph for $1000s the there is something dirty going on. But as far as brokers who wanna make money, who are not connected with the school...they are all over...and of the player is good, then it won't matter why school he is at.
it would turn into a bidding war at that point.

There is enough exposure at all these schools now that we could just let all NCAA players make money off their own likeness, and the sport would survive and I don't think there would be any more unfair advantage to certain schools than there is now. What's the purpose anymore?

Desire to avoid "unfair advantage" isn't the only reason to want to see the sport remain as amateur as possible. I doubt it's even the most common one.

Let me describe to you the view of a hypothetical, anonymous college football fan. Let's call him "stinkfinger".

Stinkfinger has no problem with the fact that certain college football programs, including his favorite, enjoy a huge competitive advantage relative to most. In fact, he's glad of it.

But stinkfinger wants the big-money college sports to remain as amateur as possible, because his interest is in watching amateur student-athletes wearing his colors beat amateur student-athletes wearing other colors. He's perfectly aware that the notion of the student-athlete in big money sports is a comforting self-delusion in some cases, but it's a delusion he's consciously willing to accept, up to a point. But when and if it reaches the point that the players are explicitly paid professionals hired by the school, rather than amateur student-athletes wearing the colors, the game will lose all its interest.

No way. I'd posit the 'incentive' to go to each school would be roughly and relatively equivalent to each school's stadium seating capacity...

I'm thinking of trolling Texags. Anyone up for a Rally 4 Reinstatement for Johnny Hancock?

I'm kind of thinking that you hit the Barry Sanders/Jim Brown jackpot of troll retirement timing with Tug Speedwell and should just let it lie, unless, of course, you can manipulate some lubed up Aggie to fight that Pedster roidhead who wanted to beat your ass and post video here.

Just who is going to sort out which deals are dirty and which are not? If no one is going to police it, then why not drop the charade of selling autographs and just let the boosters pay for players?

I don't really know what to even think about that vbet - had this stuff not been happening, I would have bet on less than 10 games because I get the feeling he's going to get injured due to his playing style.

Now I'm not sure - I still don't think he'll play a full season though....

This whole thing is why Shane Morris will provide more laughs than JFB. This dude drives a Mercedes and just doesn't care. I think he hates being an Aggie. Shane drives a moped and loves scUM. Johnny actually has some skills when playing against 11 defenders, Shane...well, you know where I'm going with this.
