If they get Wiggins in the fold, you can go ahead and mark them down as champions next year. This is the way things will go in college basketball for a while. Some years Kentucky will put together these classes and others they'll fall flat on their face. The rest of college basketball is kind of at their mercy.

Who? You mean those scUM players who are famous for wearing black socks like my old man did with his sneakers, and not winning anything of significance? That Fab 5? Well, they can stand still since they really aren't in the way of anything.

To paraphrase; "I not only want to acquire players they way I do without it being considered cheating, I also want someone to help me force them to stay for 2 years instead of just one."

The quote that requires some self control to avoid letting your eyes roll out of your head:
I'm not afraid to say it. Look, they've embarrassed me. I've done nothing, so they're not going to come and show retribution to me and do stuff. I don't really care. But something's gotta change with this one-and-done rule. I seem to be the only coach saying anything.

I do not understand all of his whining. This is an collective-bargaining agreement in the NBA. Right now the NCAA cannot do one thing about it. I wonder how much more money he wants the NCAA to give to guys who will stay for two years in addition to what they are already receiving from Kentucky boosters.

I say they should go ahead and kick in some sort of rule for him right now. Make him ride it out with the team that lost to Robert Morris in the NIT.

Anyone see Okafor's quote about Calipari this week? Apparently he was telling Okafor about how Cal gets an unfair reputation among other coaches and how the attacks that other coaches make on Cal are off-base. When you feel like you have to defend yourself like that, there must be a reason.

[Calipari] said it was unfair for his freshman-oriented team to play veteran-laden Michigan State next Tuesday. Meanwhile, he acknowledged that UK, which he's made synonymous with star freshmen, may add to its schedule another early-season event reportedly involving top opponents. "The issue becomes playing teams (like Michigan State) this early is not fair for my team," Calipari said Thursday. "It may be fair for everybody else. But it's no fair for my team." ... "Our program is not traditional," said Calipari, who also noted that his UK players achieve in the classroom and stay connected to the UK community despite living here less than a year.
