Jim Tressel (National Champion, ex-President, Youngstown State University, CFB HOF)

May I suggest this to Tress???

I favor the scarlet and gray motif with this particular owner, all things considered.
Is that the Mach 5?

Just watched the Rose Bowl again this morning, and had forgotten this post game exchange:

"Coach, much was made of Oregon's up tempo offense. How did you slow them down? - Lisa Salters

Coach Tressel - "Well, we have an up tempo defense."

Great answer.

Take a knee?
Yeah, like Tressel did at the end of our game this year against Illinois!

C'mon fellas, surely you can find a better way to give JT props than to attack the national championship winning coach for running the ball with, what, 2 mins left in the national championship?

47 seconds were left when they decided not to take a knee and score again. :(

way to be classy saban

Plus the Illinois game was in the middle of the year where style points could affect a chance to play in a title(pre-purdue). The title was well in hand for Alabama. 31-21 is very respectable.

If you recall, the Illinois game came at a time when Terrelle's passing was... shall we say... suspect and unpredictable. By passing rather than running the ball, Tressel was probably trying NOT to score, only to give TP some more reps out there. Also remember that was the first game of conference play.

Very different from the final seconds of the NC game.

I think every since the 07 game when they danced on our O you will never see a knee agianist them (this still pisses me off!)!

I think it's time for another one of the obligatory "Be thankful for Tressel" posts. About half the coaches in college football have lost their damn minds over the last couple months. It seems like every other program is having to decide between having a coach that can win and having a coach that has his shit together. Buckeye fans don't have to worry about either one. For people of my generation at least, this is the golden age of Ohio State football.

Great post jlb.

Sadly, there are too many in Buckeye Nation who do not realize what I have in bold is so true. A simple look at some reactions from the AA game this past Saturday illustrates this. In time, they too will realize it.

To anyone's knowledge has JT ever tipped his hand as to when he may decide to hang it up? With the coaching carousel at other top programs it is certainly comforting knowing we have a true Buckeye at the helm who isn't using his current position as a launching pad to his next hire. Here's hoping that recruits notice this same trend.
