*** Four Ohio State Coaches did not yield 40 or more points to an opponent: John Wilce (120 Games), Sam Willaman (41 Games), Carroll Widdoes (18 Games), and Wesley Fesler (37 Games).

Likewise, only John Cooper, Earle Bruce and Woody Hayes coached Ohio State teams which yielded 40 or more points more than 1 time during their careers.

Cooper 6 times in 111 game, Bruce 2 times in 81 games and Hayes 3 times in 205 games.

What do you want him to do?? Pass? Running the ball ends the game quickly. We all know we have a great coach. I wouldn't use other coaches to compare one of ours. Coach Tressel is great on his own.

Jim Tressel will be honored for outstanding contributions to college football.

Jim Tressel is still waiting for his first Big Ten Coach of the Year award, but the Ohio State boss has earned another significant honor.

Tressel was named the 2010 recipient of the Duffy Daugherty Memorial Award for outstanding contributions to college football. Previous winners of the award include Paul "Bear" Bryant, Bo Schembechler, Joe Paterno, Bobby Bowden, Hayden Fry, Ara Parseghian, Tom Osborne and Woody Hayes. Former Houston coach Bill Yeoman and former Michigan State coach George Perles won the award last year.

Michigan State head coach Mark Dantonio, an assistant under Tressel at both Ohio State and Youngstown State, will present Tressel with the award April 29 in Bath, Mich.

"What a tremendous thrill it is to accept an award named for the great Duffy Daugherty," Tressel said of winning the award. "He was a childhood idol of mine and a coaching peer of my dad, Lee Tressel. Sharing the day with the Michigan State staff will be something that I will always cherish."

Scoring a meaningless TD with under two minutes to go when you could take a knee is pretty much the definition of classless. Then again, so is bolting from your job as the head coach of the Dolphins mid-season, so I'm not sure how much you can expect from this guy. He's a good football mind, but he's got zero class.

Originally, I was going to post all this data and offer some analysis, but I decided to just post the data and let you guys figure out the sort of things it says. So.... here's how Tressel compares to every Ohio State coach since 1913 on various metrics. 1913 was selected simply because that's as far back as Stassen would go (It used to go back further, but 1913 is sufficient nonetheless) and it happens to coincide with John Wilce's first year as Buckeye head-man.

It would take some time, but if there is any interest I can post like data for any of the Buckeye coaches listed (which was my original intention). Likewise, I can post coaches records/results/data as against specific teams, and so on. So, if you wanted to know Tressel's MOV against Michigan as it compares to Hayes', I could do that... But, I'm basically overwhelmed with the data and the things I could do with it, so I decided to simply start here.

A 31-21 score is a good representation of what happened. Running up the score to 37-21 distorts what happened.

Really? Because we had to wade through a PAT, a kickoff, offensive plays, a change of possession, and then finally a knee.
