Jim Tressel (National Champion, ex-President, Youngstown State University, CFB HOF)

The thing that stood out to me as how the media kept refering to how Tress "handcuffed" TP the second half of the season as if it were a bad thing. It's called development. It's called understanding that you have a youngster that's struggling- go back and review the basics and then building upon those fundementals. That's teaching. That's COACHING.

I've avoided comparsions up to this point, but when you look at TPs development and you watch/listen to how he's starting to handle himself (on the field and with the media) one can't help to have flashbacks to a few years ago.

Great job coach, we are lucky to have you.

Once again, this team may end up ranked in the top 5.

All I know is that this coach is a rare, successful leader who combines a good moral compass with an approach to life that links hard work, learning, and preparation with winning. He is an example to his players and fans. I am so glad that he is coaching Ohio State.

Didn't see it mentioned... but I loved how JT didn't let John Saunders drag him into the terrible questions he asked... he just complimented his team and the opponent and how he was going to enjoy last night and the win... What a Class Act.

Like you said....

TRESSEL = CLASS ACT

It's never too late to start over and head in a new direction. It's never too late to seek and find that rewarding life. Maybe you to have gone in a direction that was destructive to you for years. Maybe someone you love is going in that direction now... YOU CAN CHANGE. Your loved one can change. There is hope. - Jim Tressel.

This really touched me tonight and inspired me to get that hope back into my life which has really become a problem for myself. Jim Tressel is a truly remarkable man who blows me away everytime he speaks. Every time I think he's done something great or impressive he does something else that impresses me even more. Just a great man and Go Buckeyes.

Best part was after the game on the field, Tressel was asked a question, can't remember what it was, and his response was, "We just have to get better before our next game." Or something like that. Even during the last game of the season, he still answers with the same stuff. I love it. I love how he has the players answer like that, too. It's a great way to deal with media. Answering the media can get a lot of coaches in trouble, and even though Tressel may seem very bland and conservative when answering questions to the media, (and I think this is why the media likes to call his coaching style bland and conservative, even when a lot of times it is not) I wouldn't want it any other way. Just give the company line and move on. Answer questions with how the team plays.

I have tried to avoid talking about this game for almost a full day to let my emotions subside. I was pretty sure by now, I'd have calmed down. But I haven't. Tressel ball does not work against elite teams. In games like last night's, he needs to let his hair down and let the talent he recruits go out and play. The wrinkle he threw in last week of actually throwing to a tight end may have scared him a bit. He must have felt like he was getting more liberal than Pat Buchnan or John Hagee and had to check himself.

Maybe somebody sent this post to Tressel because he sure did let his hair down and even threw in a new wrinkle buy letting TP throw to his tight end. What a difference from the game with USC and now.

Absolutely. He called Saunders out for being a prick... TWICE and in the best possible manner. You would think that after asking his first ass hat question and having it slapped back at him, Saunders would've learned. But, of course not. He had to follow it with asking about a possible national championship next year. To which, of course, JT responded, "You know what, dickhead, we're excited about having just won the fcuking ROSE BOWL. Now, either ask a decent motherfcuking question or shut the fcuk up". I may actually start wearing a sweater vest.

Not even close to what Tress was thinking. If you do think that, you don't know our coach. Try again...

Sarcasm font, SNG. He ignored Saunder's first insipid question and thanked the tOSU family, including TBDBITL and the fans. He didn't bite on the second one that was simply put out there to create artificial media drama and detract from the focus on the Rose Bowl and instead artfully and judiciously reminded Saunders of what was really important and, I stand by this, demonstrating what a prick Saunders was being in the first place.

Ramblings of an insane Buck fan

It was great. Tress doesn't get too high after victories, or too low after losses. Always the gentleman, wife and daughter were amazed that I was mouthing his answers before he was. He's a seasoned pro (with waaaay more than nine seasons under his belt). Plus his Daddy's training, he was also a class act.

When "Tresselball" works, he's a genius. When it doesn't, he's an old fuddy-duddy. Heck, the return game was off (for OSU), and OSU still won. Balanced pass/run, but WHEN those plays were called was the difference. Did we get the breaks, yes (Ballard's catch on TP's heave), fumble into the end zone, etc. The game plan was well prepared (keep the Oregon "O" off the field, and by golly the plays kept the drives alive. Haven't heard one word against Bollman, imagine that. Also saw TP become a player in front of our eyes. Also saw the continued reliance on the D that OSU has become famous for. (only ONE all-B10er, but the best stats in the league, go figure). Dunno, does anyone else believe that since Oregon beat USC and Purdue, that we're vindicated? I do. Still wanted USC in the Rose, but I'll take the win. Showing those Tressel statistics, NFLBuck, was great. Omitted ONLY 14-0 college football team EVER. The Buckeye Nation will sleep soundly this winter. scUM can only grit their teeth and make a wish.....

:gobucks3::gobucks4::banger: Oh yeah, one postscript. Still get irked by the articles on the Rose Bowl, "OSU had an uncharacteristically well-structured offense", or "OSU won, albeit not against an elite team", or somesuch back-handed slam, from every quarter. There's no peace or justice, but hey, we can handle it, we're used to it! Go Bucks

It was great to see you win. I had to leave around half time, but I saw the 19-17 score as I walked by a bar window on the way to the Dome.

With that win (and our scrimmage with Cincinnati* ) the Bucks and Gators are tied for second with 5 BCS wins, behind USC by one win. Here's to us both tying that arrogant Pete Carrol next year. :banger:

That was very big in getting the haters off of your backs. Good showing this year by the Big-10.

* the Bearcat whipping gave us the only back to back 13 win seasons in history, and we joined the Huskers as the only two programs with three 13 win seasons. We may not have as storied a tradition as some, but we are trying to crowd our way in.

On that note, it's pissing me off something fierce that Bama or Texas is going to match our 14 win season :/ (and that Boise has a chance to also)
