Jim Tressel (National Champion, ex-President, Youngstown State University, CFB HOF)

Yeah Tressel has been on record saying that he would like to coach for another 7-10 seasons or so. Most importantly though there is NO way of knowing what the coaching landscape is going to be like that far down the road. Any conjecture to this point is, well, pointless. Let's focus on the now. And as far as the now is concerned, JT is what's best for Ohio State.
... yeah, I don't want Jim Tressel to leave or anything. Woah dude. Just thought someone had started the theoretical question, IF/WHEN he decides to hang 'em up, who would you want??

One thing I forgot to include in my comments was, I would NOT want Urban Meyer. Someone else had said they would like to have him at OSU. I don't think I could stand to see him on our sideline. Ugh.

This should be the last post for a long time that even mentions a JT departure.

Haven't seen his post game remarks yet but the guys on The Fan were shitfit. He took a laissez-faire attitude of... we have to "go back to the drawing board", and "don't blame Terrell, it was the team and coaches" , "we need to execute better". Instead of saying "I am embarassed by what happened on the field, and we will break our asses to make sure that doesn't happen again"

I really think he's too comfortable and doesn't show any intensity.

The Fan announcers said "If Tressel makes it acceptable to lose, then it will continue"

Ridiculous. The fans will feel better if he throws Pryor or the OL or the other coaches under the bus? I don't see any justification for saying that "Tressel makes it acceptable to lose." I have no doubt in my mind he is even more frustrated and disappointed than any one of us.

This man is about to take a shitstorm of criticism, rightfully or unrightfully so.

Absolutely. I just wish it was more reasonable criticism rather than the garbage that I am 100% certain will dominate the varous media.

Disagree completely, Tress has been a lot looser, and considerably more animated on the sidelines.

But that brings us back to the question of your source on this stuff, who decided that press conferences were a good place to judge Jim Tressel. His son could go on a puppy kicking rampage on the sidelines, and you'd get nothing out of him.

Well, he was never known for losing the little ones... until now.

For sure, on both accounts. This loss does not sit well with Ohio State fans that is for sure. There were comments all about the stadium today. Very disgruntled with the team/coaches this afternoon. I'm a pretty optimistic guy, but even I have to say that today was a pretty pathetic display and I think some accountability has to be taken by him. People want to here him admit the team/coaches were not prepared...as if it will help. He knows they screwed up this week, nothing will bring that back. Theirs a slew of players going back to the WHAC that are very down on themselves right now and feel just as bad if not worse for their performance today. I'll trust Tressel to know how to handle these young men and regain control of his team.

I just hope he's able to survive this. He's the best man for the job, but people are jumping off the ledge and Tress is about to deal with a ton of heat.

The team just didn't look...right...today. Tressel was all over the field trying to fire people up. No response- or at least no visible response in terms of production, execution, or even in some cases effort. Not sure what the man can do when kids aren't doing the right things that he (I assume) teaches them to do.

I'd hate for this, I don't know "fluke" (???), loss to be the downfall of him because a section of fans can't accept an upset to their team in the grand landscape of college football.

It shouldn't (and really won't- he's here to stay), but it sure as hell is going to be made out to be in the coming days.

Not going to be pretty. :(

Why is that? A coach needs to be a motivator and the fact the kids are not responding on the sideline and most importantly on the field is very concerning. I'm not saying this is JT's fault in this case but this was also mentioned last year and it seems to be carrying over to this year.

Last year we had people like Robiskie and others who were supposed to be senior leaders and did not really step up in that role. Why are we seeing this again? The team is young but I just don't understand why they do not respond on the field to adjustments or any other changes the coaches make.
