Jim Tressel (National Champion, ex-President, Youngstown State University, CFB HOF)

41-14 should have meant that Urban Meyer has a soft spot for JT and the OSU program to anyone who was watching. He could have made it much worse.

I don't want anyone in overall charge of our program more than JT but if you gave me my pick and said it had to happen I'm taking Meyer.
Agreed, I'd take Meyer in a second if he was willing to come to OSU once JT hangs it up. The only thing 41-14 means to me in regard to Urban is that he's a damn good coach, I don't hold a grudge against him, his job was to win the game and that's what he did.

How can you hold a grudge against Meyer for that score? if anyone you should hold a grudge against... it would be our team that did not show up that day.

If Meyer wanted to be on my good side, he would have LOST that game 41-14. He also would have given me his next year's salary.

In all seriousness, why are we talking about who Coach Tressel's successor should be in his thread?

As we all know Ohio State always gets choice committments upon signing day and the percentage is way up there. Ohio State is usually up in the top 5 of 6 institutions in the recruiting wars.

I would wonder if say per some chance, that we would fall out of the top ten in recruiting wars. An the talent level was way below the expectation of alot of the coaches and fans. I have always thought about that situation and wondered how that certain class would fair in Jim Tressels scheme of things and his coaching ways. Would this be a big test for him and his coaching staff ? I'm sure it would but his staff has always had nothing but quality football players in his program for Ohio State.

While he was at Youngstown State the caliber of players was not as good as the ones who were at Ohio state then. He was sucessful in bringing the best out of his teams at YSU. Maybe this scenario will never ever happen but with the way Jim teaches his ball players about the game of football, i wonder how he would fair if that situation ever came up at Ohio State. To him i think that would be a greater challenge for him personaly. I hope i have worded this in the right way that every body understands what i am talking about. And maybe at some point in his coaching time at Ohio State, it did really happen. If it did i certainly can't remember. Just asking here.

As far as I know, tOSU doesn't have top 5-6 recruiting classes perennially.

Not if 90% of the fans have it their way.. we have a overwhelmingly stupid fanbase.

How to Use Articles (a/an/the) - The OWL at Purdue

I'm sorry to ruin the fun, but ease up. BUCKYLE is pointing out the hilarious irony of what you said. It's not baiting you if you already put your foot in the trap.

Senator Jim Tressel: Buckeye Jekyll and Hyde?

...

So OK, one of two things have to be true. Either football teams do not reflect their head coach (otherwise OSU's teams would play like zombies) or deep down in the hidden recesses of The Vest there exists a different Jim Tressel that comes out at dark and shadowy times and inspires his teams. Not likely you say, Mister "Tressel is boring?" His players say otherwise.

"I've been around here for a while. I've heard it a few times, especially when we need it," said senior captain Kurt Coleman of Tressel's ability to get fired up, and more importantly, show it.

"I think half time and before the game are two of he biggest times when you can see the emotion in his face, you can feel it.

"He lets us know that it's never going to be an easy game and we have to rise to the challenge. He does a good job of telling us that," Coleman said.
Shocked? So were we. Coleman's proclamation left us dubious, so we did what any self-respecting skeptic would do, we looked for somebody to refute him. Amazingly, we couldn't find that person.

Cont'd ...
