Jersey / Uniform Discussion (OSU)

Are you mad? You seem mad.

We literally just watched tsun go thru a decade long tradition fire sale. But yeah, never gonna happen.
If you think I'm mad then you're reading anger in my posts. Just like if you think Ohio State wearing black jerseys means they're shitting on tradition or copying Cinci, it's because you put that there.

You know who else has a tradition of losing their minds if somebody touches their uniforms? I'll give you a hint, they all remember the time Jesus walked into the ice cream shop. Is that who you'd rather be?

I love the players singing Carmen Ohio after games. That's a new tradition.

I don't like "traditions" that only exist to squeeze more money out of a loyal fan base to help earn more profit for a temporary business partner. The idea that tradition is for sale is pathetic and exactly how you get into Dave Brandon situations like tsun went thru.

Selling $8 hot dogs and $10 beers is squeezing more money out of a loyal fan base too.

That tradition started when most of the kids on the team were 5-8 years old. Why can't they start their own traditions? What if they asked for the black jerseys?

I (for the first time) stuck around after the game last week to see it. Also, I was surprised how many others were still in their seats watching it. In addition, it was a noon game and they had both bands performing on the field after the game, those 2 things probably helped attendance (i.e. after the game) too.

Also, kids ask for a lot of stupid [Mark May]. My daughter wants a fucking pony that flies. I could get a mini horse and shove a rocket up its ass but as the "responsible adult", it's my job to tell her no sometimes and blame it on her mother.

Flying ponies are awesome. You're just too old and stuck on regular walking ponies to see it.

I always found it ironic that we (OSU fans in general) like to talk about how our athletic department is self-sufficient and very successful then complain about how the money is made to make that happen.

I think you should go for the horse/rocket up it's ass idea:

Some people just don't like flying ponies no matter their age. Some older dudes like ponies, like @buckeyegrad. Dudes my age and he's a brony. Age isn't the factor here.

Bingo. I said it in the uniform thread in the College Football forum, and I'll say it again here. People always seem to point to Bama as proof that Nike doesn't have to be allowed to mess with uniform "tradition" to get their sponsorship money, but their versions of Wexner donate to athletics, not academics. I'm sure if OSU athletics had a few Wexner-level donors that put up as much or more as they get from Nike for deals like this the alternates would be less likely to happen, or be a lot more subtle.

What if a kid asked for a bounce ball at the grocery store for a quarter? Because that's a better analogy than something that would kill a mini horse and endanger the child. Since the bounce ball is as harmless as the color of fabric.
