Jersey / Uniform Discussion (OSU)

Not everybody looks at it like that. If you let yourself stop viewing it as anything other than a program having fun, you might accidentally enjoy it.
It's not a "program having fun", but rather caving in to a run-its-course fad. When USC, Texas, Oklahoma, or Alabama wear black jerseys, then you may have a point. I was going to include Michigan and Notre Dame, but their blue jerseys are black enough to where they're almost black, so they'd have no reason to do so. I also left off Nebraska (#2 in all-time wins and #8 in winning percentage) because they can get away with black jerseys because of their "black shirt" tradition.

I just wish they left the helmets alone. There's nothing sweeter than seeing the lights shine off those bad boys at night in the shoe!

Been watching the PSU/Indiana game this morning while getting ready for work. They got lucky as hell Indy was playing with 3rd stringers a lot of that game. There are serious run lanes and bounce opportunities against their defense that the Hoosiers completely missed. We can certainly go over the top on them as well but they'll definitely load up the box so QB play is going to be very important.

When we are on defense I think we can get pressure with the front four so I hope we load up the box as well and man their guys on the outside. I don't think they have the overall speed to beat us deep or go long.

as has been said many, many times it's not just that

when you take a page out of UC's playbook, you are embarrassing yourself, period.

You can't go on Jerry Springer and keep your dignity.
I think I just need it explained to me why it's so horrible that we're doing something that Cinci also happened to do. I mean...when I was in 2nd grade there was a girl who was a little mentally challenged (well, a lot mentally challenged). She was dirty. She was the living version of Pigpen from Charlie Brown. If she sat in an orange chair at lunch, and you were also sitting in an orange chair at lunch.....you were either married to her or the cooties transferred through the chairs to you and then you had them. Probably both, I can't remember exactly. The point is....you did NOT want to be in the same color chair as Patty.

But that was second grade.

Get ready for the best experience ever. Get there early and really enjoy the build up to the game. My wife and I went to the Nebraska game and got there by 7am for 8pm start. It was a whole day of awesomeness

I'm excited for it. My sister and I are both big OSU fans my wife not so much(she grew up WV 'fan') I went to the WV/K State game with her last year when we had to go to Morgantown and it felt dead compared to the shoe. I keep telling her how awesome the Bucks games are hope she enjoys it a lot. First game for my sister as well so hopefully the team plays well. We'll be in the student section so I expect it to be pretty rowdy. Day and a half of work and I'm on my way up to the Buckeye State. Can't wait

Good one; however, I really don't mind the black uniforms....

:oh:....:io:
Once the ball is kicked off I'll get over it. The uniforms may lie, but the scoreboard won't. I'll know who the bad guys are.

I wouldn't mind it if our colors were scarlet and black. If I rooted for Cincinnati - I'm a grad degree alum from there- or Rutgers, or, God forbid, Texas Tech, I'd love them.

I wouldn't mind if the athletic department hadn't spent years developing a distinctive look to THE Ohio State University Football Team. Given BN27's perspective, they could go out in any combination of red, gray, black, white and green and still be in "the school colors."

But this need to generate money to feed garment workers in Sri Lanka, give Phil's design team something to do and keep Oregon in updated facilities all smells of sell out.

Why not do a Goldfinger uni? Shiny gold from head to toe with black numbers - now that black is one of "our colors." Kids would love it. If it makes money; do it, 'cause the money and kids 'wants' justify it all.

Tradition is far more important than any recruit, and any recruit that is going to be swayed by a fucking black uniform can go to Oregon.

Why can't current and future players create their own traditions? The idea that only old traditions are important is paternalistic and is exactly how you get into situations like Texas is going through where the blue bloods can't get out of their own way.

I love the players singing Carmen Ohio after games. That's a new tradition.

I don't like "traditions" that only exist to squeeze more money out of a loyal fan base to help earn more profit for a temporary business partner. The idea that tradition is for sale is pathetic and exactly how you get into Dave Brandon situations like tsun went thru.

Or have uniforms that "tell it like it is", i.e. it's all about the money:
