Jameis Winston (QB Browns)

Where exactly is the Orlando Sentinel on this one?

As we continue to await word on the result of the Jameis Winston sexual assault investigation, it's clear that every team and every coach doesn't play by the same set of rules.

Namely, Jimbo Fisher and Florida State are getting a free pass from most fans and media over an issue that would have tripped up Urban Meyer and Ohio State.

Can you imagine what the reaction would be if Winston played for Ohio State and Meyer was playing him at quarterback as he attempted to qualify for the BCS title game?

Meyer would get killed in the media, right?

In fact, the media and fan scrutiny would be so overwhelming I'm not even sure Meyer would be able to play Winston. Doubt me?

Keep in mind that FSU had a receiver arrested for sexual assault this summer; arrests have been fairly common in the Fisher-Florida State era too. In fact, if you compare the arrest rate at Florida State with the arrest rate at Ohio State during Urban Meyer's tenure, FSU has actually had more players arrested and for more serious offenses.

So now it apparently is going to take prosecutors until after the ACC title game to make a decision about whether to charge Winston. VERY convenient timing for FSU:

IMHO, good for tOSU.

If OSU wins out, you know that Urb will be politicking a bit on TV. So far, it's Urb 1 vs. ESPN/Herbstreit narrative 0.

I think it's going to dawn upon a lot of national voters that voting F$U into the title game is going to be like voting for the next president that may or may not have cancer and the results would only be known a week after election. If OSU can win the next two impressively it's going to be awfully close.

I read through the entire article and figured it was written by some no-name contributor, then scrolled up and saw it was written by Clay Travis... If that guy's coming around there might be hope.

You must have missed his other article where he says Missouri and Auburn could both jump tOSU.

2. SEC teams Auburn and Missouri could leap undefeated Ohio State

Trust me, it could happen.

I don't think Alabama is going to lose, but a 12-1 Auburn with one loss at LSU -- where the Tiger are 30-1 in their last 31 home games -- or a 12-1 Missouri with one overtime loss to South Carolina, both have stronger overall resumes, in my opinion, than 13-0 Ohio State.

Put it this way: Do you think Ohio State would go on the road and win at LSU? If you don't, and I don't, then how do you hold that against Auburn when you compare resumes with Ohio State?

So this basically ensures the issue won't affect whether FSU goes to the dance or not.

Well, it should if each of the top-3 were unbeaten and viewed as fairly even. The looming potential charges for Winston probably should be a tiebreaker of sorts, but the media has already (shamefully) enforced the narrative that FSU is somehow ahead of OSU in the pecking order so basically no matter what happens they won't view the two teams as tied.
