Clowney had 13 sacks last year. 35% (4.5) of them came against Clemson. 6.5 came against $EC teams.

Vandy = 1
Missouri = 1.5
Kentucky = 1
Georgia = 1
LSU = 0
Florida = 1
Tennessee = 1
Arkansas = 0

After his lackluster performance tonight I am not buying the hype train. Am I nuts? Is he the media's next Tebow?

it's very clear he'll be the hyped player all year long.

Honestly, he's ok but he's only a rush end, he doesn't exactly play inspired run defense. He'll be a pile hopper in the NFL to get his tackle numbers up, ala Ray Lewis....

No, you're not nuts. He played poorly. Huffing, puffing, and sucking wind on the sideline. It was pissing me off that the commentators (both former SEC players) were looking for to blame Clowney being out-of-shape on everything in the book. Blaming poor play on it being "hot" outside was ridiculous. You practice and play every day down there in the hot weather, you dumb shits.

Just call a spade a spade. Clowney didn't have "it" today. Heisman chase took a big nose dive for him tonight.

And South Carolina as a team was just as unimpressive, but you wouldn't know that if you didn't watch the game and went by ESPN headlines. They're ranked at least 10 spots higher in the rankings than they should be.

I remarked during their bowl game against scUM that it looked like he was spending a lot of time giving minimal effort before he detonated Vincent Smith. The guy is an undeniable physical talent, but from watching this game, you cannot say he doesn't take plays off. That's not somebody I'd spend the #1 pick on...sorry.

Few things...first, it was miserable weather yesterday. It wasn't just hot, it was skyhigh humidity that choked you. We've had a relatively 'cool' summer with an unusual amount of rain and over the last 10 days, the typical SC weather only returned a two days ago. Next, Clowney taking plays off isn't a major concern imo...some of his best plays aren't going to show up in the stat line. His presence changes gameplans and playcalls.

He is a victim of hype...unless he decapitates someone every game, he is going to be criticized.

He was really huffing and puffing. I am currently in South Carolina about 100 miles from Columbia. It was a beautiful day yesterday. Pretty warm , but a nice dry heat. I hope he doesnt get drafted by a florida team, he might have passed out had the opener been against florida or lsu, where it is actually hot and humid.

And South Carolina looked very unimpressive after the first quarter. If they struggle against small UNC o and d lines, they will really struggle against the power that is THE SEC SEC SEC. Seriously, that better be a wake up call or they are in for a rough season.

Kid didnt show up or isn't as good as the hype the media gave him. Who could live up to the hype sEcSPN gave him? Plus teams gameplan for him now so I don't think there is any way in hell he'll live up to the season he had last year. That hit during the Meatchicken game cursed him.
