You know, I thought the same thing but I didn't want to offend one of the elites.

Its just kinchloe. All good.

Anyway, I'm on my phone... last time I tried to merge from here I think I called Guam.

As to ord's comment regarding autograph seeking and meth... nothing personal against folks that do just want one for kids, but I think he's insulting meth heads. And its not really even them... well... not totally... I don't understand why there's a market, really

Maybe have some rule where everything must be personalized (which apparently drives the price way down). It would discourage the memorabilia trade.

I would like to see that, but I think at some point the players would be getting thrown big money at them to just sign a "basic autograph". The ncaa non-personalized autograph industry would explode.

An autograph should fucking mean something. I have gotten one in my life, which I still have. That was in the late 70s through my grandmother's brother "uncle carlo" who played semi-pro ball with one of the Dimaggio brothers in the 1930s. One afternoon, I, my Dad and Uncle Carlo were ushered into the bar at one of the old school, tourist-trap seafood restaurants on Fisherman's Wharf in SF where I was introduced to Joe Dimaggio, shook his hand, and he signed a small piece of blue notepad, "To 'ORD' Best Wishes, Joe Dimaggio"

That's a fucking autograph. Not paying 50 clams to stand in line for some douchebag to sign a generic signature and not even make eye contact with you.

Looks like South Carolina has its hands (and mouth) full with this NCAA violation that involves a turkey avocado wrap. You honestly cannot make his stuff up.

Boyd, Clowney, Watkins names listed on Daniel Island restaurant menu items, which is against NCAA rules

AR-130819407.jpg&maxw=640&q=100

On the Daniel Island Grille menu you can order the ?tajh boyd chicken quesadillas? or the ?sammy watkins reuben.? Also available is ?clowney?s turkey avocado wrap.?

A Daniel Island restaurant still has an item on its menu named for Tajh Boyd, despite Clemson?s compliance department insisting earlier this week the entree lose its relation to the star quarterback.

On Wednesday, a fan tweeted a photo of the menu at Daniel Island Grille, clearly displaying an item called ?Tajh Boyd Chicken Quesadillas? priced at $8.99. The photo made its way from social media to a Sporting News blog post.

Bylaw 12.5.2.2 of the NCAA rulebook prohibits the use of student-athletes? names or pictures without knowledge or permission.

However, Clemson sports information director Tim Bourret told The Post and Courier the football compliance department was made aware on Tuesday of Boyd?s likeness on the menu without his or the university?s consent.

A member of the compliance staff spoke with a restaurant owner, who said the item would be removed from the menu, and Clemson followed up with the usual protocol of an official cease-and-desist letter.

I honestly don't know how the NCAA can prevent this. The restaurant owner doesn't owe anything to the NCAA, nor to the universities these guys play for.

Fuck the NCAA.

[censored] the NCAA.

From the article:

NCAA Bylaw 12.5.2.2 ?Use of a Student-Athlete?s Name or Picture Without Knowledge or Permission?
If a student-athlete?s name or picture appears on commercial items (e.g., T-shirts, sweatshirts, serving trays, playing cards, posters, photographs) or is used to promote a commercial product sold by an individual or agency without the student-athlete?s knowledge or permission, the student-athlete (or the institution acting on behalf of the student-athlete) is required to take steps to stop such an activity in order to retain his or her eligibility for intercollegiate athletics.

Followed by "the usual protocol of an official cease-and-desist letter."

It's as much a simple legal matter as an NCAA one: businesses generally can't use your name or likeness without your permission.
