JabriLLL "Ghost" Peppers (New England Patriots)

I, for one, feel no inferiority complex over it. Hoke has done a great job recruiting. He deserves an immense amount of credit for that. It means he'll field a highly competitive team when we play.

But we still have the better coach. And talent being equal, I like our chances going forward.

I think Mattison on defense and Urban on offense is a pretty great matchup, but before I get yelled at again ... back to Peppers

Both teams will be very good -- I can't say enough about OSU, and if we can agree on one thing ... this will help the Big Ten come bowl season.

Disagree somewhat. Without Charles Woodson, Michigan doesn't get close to an undefeated season in 1997. Shoot Michigan went 10-3 in 1998 when Woodson left. Pretty good chance they finish with a better record than 10-3 had he stayed for his senior year.

CB's that can change the dynamic of an entire team and elevate that team to another level are definitely rare, but Peppers has that kind of potential. He's a big-time talent. One of the best DB recruits to come out in a long time in my opinion.

I respect what you are saying. You can bring up Woodson, and he was certainly a great player, and won a Heisman playing on both sides of the ball and return game. Very diverse and one of the reasons he won the Heisman. Again, I do not feel the CB position alone is program elevator.

Very true. And Michigan got luck that Woodson's involvment with getting gifts (before the Rose Bowl) from the agent in SC came out long after the time period for sanctions had passed.

Woodson is not the same since he didn't play against spread offenses. He could shut down an entire side of the field. With offenses now running out 4-5 wrs, a cb no matter how great is still limilimited in his effectiveness with not being able to guard so many receiving options

Sure CB may not be the position with the most program changing potential, but having a stud on the outside helps a lot with what types of schemes and coverages you can run. I think we would all feel a little worse about our chances for a NC this year if we lost Bradley Roby. Peppers is an absolute stud and he has All-American potential. I would certainly love to have him, and it's a heck of pickup if SCUM picks him up.

Well, hopefully they will at least stop embarrassing themselves and the conference if they keep recruiting like this. Thank goodness they have Hoke in charge to prevent them from doing anything too remarkable with the talent they are collecting.

We are still paying for the Cooper years.

Not really. The Cooper Era ended in 2000 when Peppers was 5-6 years old. Tressel came aboard in 2001 and beat Michigan right off the bat and we've dominated the series 10-2 since then. Essentially, we've owned Michigan since Peppers was in kindergarten or first grade. The "Cooper years" had absolute zilch to do with Peppers' decision.

Agreed. Sometimes you just don't win 'em. Peppers looks like a good one. Hoke continues to reel I good talent. Hopefully it won't matter.

Lets see if he actually sticks with them after they go 5-7 this year.

I don't think 1 year will change this kids decision when he's been a fan of there's for a long time. And also, IMO, he also expects to come in and make the program better with his play. So honestly I think a 5-7 season could benefit scUM, because if they win 6-7+ games the following years, peppers can hang his hat on knowing the program was better when he got there. And also, osu had a 6-7 season the season before last, and it didn't hurt our recruiting, with new players or with keeping the already committed.
