Well Bill, with all due respect, you skipped over my clarification post that agreed with all successful programs have violations if you examine them. Because I tried to make it clear that main thing I took issue with was Scooter's ludicrous statement that my alma mater (as an SEC school), not only had little problem with committing NCAA violations/being dirty, etc., but that in the SEC unethical behavior is "encouraged". Really??

Good Lord. Vent all you want. [censored] with the SEC all you want. Say Bama and Auburn are notoriously dirty. Watch my head nodding with you. Say that in the SEC fierce competition leads to corrupt practices, at least historically. More head nodding. Vent about all kinds of things, because, as you correctly point out, despite the more welcoming than most hospitality of this board, it is a Buckeye site. Or say "You (the SEC) all [censored]ing suck" and should fall into the earth. Meh. Big [censored]ing deal. Scoot was venting, so that did not deserve a comment. But making claims that Florida is dirty, or "encourages" dirty behavior, this Gator is going to call out the person who said that.

Look Gator. Just admit that Florida is dirty and paying all of its players and god only nows what else, ok?

Charity event identified . . .

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Feb. 19 charity event in Independence where Ohio State football players received money in violation of NCAA rules was one of the rare charity functions outside the Columbus area approved by the Ohio State compliance department.

The co-founder of Cornerstone for Hope, a charity for grieving families that put on the benefit, said he wasn't aware of the $200 given to each of three Buckeyes -- Jordan Hall, Travis Howard and Corey Brown -- at the formal dinner and charity auction.

"Cornerstone did not pay any players. And we did not approve anybody paying players, or have any knowledge that this could happen at a Cornerstone event," co-founder Mark Tripodi said Monday. "If we have 800 people in that room, I don't have control of everything that happened that night." . . .

Former Buckeyes and Glenville High stars Troy Smith and Ted Ginn Jr. have been involved with the charity for years, and both were in attendance in February. . .

idiotic ? interesting. I'll give you a bit more respect than you gave me.

I have kids. And unlike you I believe in holding them accountable. Kicking them off team is not exactly a death sentence. It also serves to strengthen the bond of the administration's word to the NCAA that OSU is trying to be exceptional.

If my kids made a mistake like these players appear to have made...I would certainly ground them from extracurriculars for awhile. Making a player have to earn his starting spot is really not a punishment.....unless he was awared the spot for something other than his quality of play.

the players were warned, warned again, warned again....and still have not heeded the warnings. This is more like their 3rd or 4th mistake if you count the warnings.

Idiotic. Too bad that only works if it's the same across the entire landscape, which it is not. Players make mistakes. Do you have kids? Would you get rid of your kid if he screwed up? Maybe you would. You clearly don't understand what "tough love" actually is. Tough love is not sending a kid packing. Tough love is making the kid learn and work harder to regain his spot. I do agree compliance needs a change, something there isn't right.

Once again, you have the most posts in a thread about tOSU violations. Very many of us are tired of this - and by that I mean myself, and numerous other posters, including other admins.

If you post again in this thread or the yahoo/tattoo thread (even just a joke or a question) prior to the NCAA ruling coming out, you'll earn a 14-day break from this board. You may think that's not fair, but we don't care what you think at this point. This isn't a court of law, this is a Buckeye board.

I don't agree with everything Gator posts here, however this statement is a bit too harsh. I think Gator has started that he is not defending the SEC but his alma mater. Who wouldn't on this board do the same for our team on another board? As to how many post he has in this thread who the heck cares if if it is one or 100 he has a valid point and should be able to express his viewpoint. In my view he has not crossed the line and if we ban him for any other comment on this board we are no better than the other board we make fun of around here about their "knee jerk" reaction.....sorry to be so pointed but I strongly believe that we should allow different opinion and I realize this is a Buckeye board and we (as a collective group) would like for all these troubles to go away but it appears we have an issue and I share everyone's frustration with the NCAA and their dragging their feet. Excellent post by the way BB that addresses every Buckeye's perception of the NCAA's lack of consistency, but I reiterate Gator has not crossed a line and we shouldn't use draconion methods to silence him....

Everyone except Gator should feel free to express their opinion in this thread, I've received numerous PMs. but I won't reveal their contents to the board.

EDIT - If i could have simply locked a person out of a specific thread or two, I would have simply done that.
