Iowa @ tOSU, Sat Oct 22, 12pm, FOX

Thats the fun of it man... I'm sure everyone here wonders how that game will play out a few weeks from now? This isn't really any different.

There's always things we can learn though projecting forward.
I think it might be better received as a recap point after the game as opposed as during the game….

Ohio State scored only one touchdown on its first 10 possessions, ran the ball for only 66 yards on 30 carries and had its second-fewest total yards since Ryan Day became head coach against Iowa.

The Buckeyes still scored more points than any other team had ever scored against Iowa in Kirk Ferentz’s 24-year tenure coaching the Hawkeyes. They scored more than twice as many points as any other team had scored against Iowa this season and only five fewer points than the Hawkeyes allowed in their first six games combined. For betting purposes, Ohio State hit the over by itself in its 54-10 win.

Hell yes, we enjoyed two dozen chicken wings and some sweet bread sides for the later games thanks to our Buckeyes! Hell of a Saturday

Take away the two defensive scores by both teams and the game is:
47-3
47 points and the offense struggled.
Fact: Running game still not tough enough. Yet, the offense still scored
47 points against one of the best defenses in CFB.
CJ for the season: 28 TDs 5 Ints averaging 4 passing TDs a game
Special Teams were special
How bout that Defense?
Stay healthy Bucks!

Even when the going was slow I felt ok, unlike previous years. I underestimated Iowa's defense going in. I hadn't watched them and couldn't believe that much of their success wasn't a function of who'd they'd played. Disabused of that nonsense. Their defense is fucking-legit. So, crazy as it maybe sounds, I was ok being slowed down by them as long as we took some points and kept it moving, which we did. In years past, we'd be thrown off by or play down to the level of sub-par competition. That was frustrating. Yesterday was just good fucking football and it felt like Day and Wilson would work through it, which they did.

Thank the gods, old and new, that Iowa's offense is terrible, but even so the Buckeye defense was outstanding and showed me that even against a better offense they could more than hold the line until our guys got on track.

On the whole, this was a B1G late October noon game that in times past we would've fucked around and almost lost but won 23-17 or had a complete meltdown and lost. I never felt like that was going to happen yesterday and I love that even on an off day, for us, we scored more on Ferentz than anyone ever has, including us, and doubled what scum was able to put up.

Small correction: Stroud has 4 int's

Jumping back to 1991 to recap Ohio State’s 54-10 victory over Iowa

As the Big Ten has expanded, the number of meetings between Iowa and Ohio State has dwindled over the years. Today’s game was the first game between the schools in Columbus since 2013. With today’s 54-10 win over the Hawkeyes, Ohio State extended their winning streak at Ohio Stadium over Iowa to eight games. To wrap up today’s blowout win, we’ll look back at some popular movies, tv shows, songs, and video games from 1991 and incorporate them into the recap.

“Enter Sandman”
“Motownphilly”
“Duke Nukem”
“Dinosaurs”
“Delirious”

Am I concerned with the lack of a dominant rushing attack in this game?

Yes

Do I worry about that with a team that has shown the ability to win many different ways/styles?

Not at all

When you can still crush an opponent, does it really matter HOW you do it?
How you do things on offense matters a lot more when your defense sucks ass. A competent defense greatly mitigates concerns about the style the offense utilizes to score points.
