Iowa @ tOSU, Sat Oct 22, 12pm, FOX

Revisiting the Iowa game on the DVR. One drive stalls when CJ and Umbeka miss, balls sails over his head and is damn near picked off. If the throw is in front of Umbeka it's a six. Another drive stalls when JSN doesn't get the interference call in the endzone - Might have been a no-call because the ball was judged to be uncatchable, but... Henderson slips on a run that could have ended in 6... a couple of times when Chop and Henderson decide to try and go wide instead of just hitting the hole and they end up losing yardage. The more I re-watch the more I see that the game could have been a blowout in the first half. Just a few plays that don't click make the game look much different than it was.

Ohio State’s 2nd half possessions

First possession:
Interception

2nd possession:
End around on 1st down for 4 yards
Henderson tackled for loss on 2nd down - stacked box run blitz
Severe defensive holding not called
Punt

EDIT - MISSED A POSSESSION:

3rd possession:
Short field - one series of downs
Pass on first down
Touchdown

3rd 4th possession:
Pass on every first down
Touchdown

4th 5th possession:
Two Henderson runs (into stacked box - run blitz) net a first down (anyway). Running game adjusted to get what we needed.
long pass to Fleming on first down because their corner (with NO safety help because of the 9 man box) was in no danger of covering #4
Touchdown

5th 6th (and CJ’s final) possession:
Pass on every first down
Touchdown
Running plays on that drive:
QB sneak
Henderson for 2 on 4th and 1
End around for 6 or 7 yards

after this it was all backups

The one running play that was disappointing was the tfl for Henderson on the 2nd possession on 2nd and 1, but considering the defensive call… stuff happens

Apart from that can anyone point out the opportunity for rushing yards that was missed?

I don’t see it

Iowa adjusted
Ohio State adjusted and dominated

End of story

Good to know what happened

I mean do you want to have that on the front page as a kind of weekly analysis plus fun stats?

With LJB’s stuff there now…
  1. Only if he’s cool with adding variety to that space, as others seem to want
  2. Only if we have our members who REALLY know football agree to review my stuff in the contributor space before it’s posted.
  3. It would be best if, in addition to reviewing my stuff, they occasionally contribute their own. That’s up to them of course, just offering my opinion that it would be better for the site.
  4. Only if you double my moderator salary
