Iowa 24, Penn St. 23 (Final)

You make a good point, but there has been no shortage of people on here saying that Penn State losing to Iowa means no chance at a Rose Bowl or even a BCS bowl for the Buckeyes. I kinda got tired of people rooting for scenarios that have the Buckeyes coming in second place because they thought it gave them a better shot at getting into the Rose Bowl. I think it's good for some of those people to know that the Bucks are still very much alive in the chase for another Big Ten title.

I think the fact that we're now in a first place tie in the Big Ten makes it pretty obvious we're alive for another Big Ten title.

I don't even know why we're arguing about it?

Hell, I'm sorry I said anything at this point.

I know why we do it. But a scenario like this is exactly why I don't like playing a 1AA team. (I'm too set in my ways to call them FCS.) It would really suck to lose a Rose Bowl IF we would end in a three way tie or not play a team we are tied with in a two way tie.

Nothing good can come from playing Youngstown State. If we blow them out... we should have, if we barely beat them... it hurts us in the rankings, if we lose to them... we take over being the laughing stock (from scUM) and just playing them period can keep us out of the Rose Bowl.

Anyway back to the topic at hand. Great game Hawks. Reminds me a lot of the 1998 season.

I thought I was filling a useful role in trying to explain the facts about the tiebreaking procedures, so everyone could understand what would transipre in different situations, but I guess I was just wasting my time.

Silly me.
I appreciate it Bill but I must spread some rep around before I give it (rep) to you again.

If Penn State wins out we're [censored]ed. If Michigan State wins out we're [censored]ed. Stil, winning 4 straight Big 10 titles is something to hang your hat on. Go Bucks!

If MSU wins out but we do also then we are co-champs along with MSU. We would go to the Rose Bowl or another BCS bowl based on our beating the Spartans head to head......

Doesn't the Rose Bowl have to take the Big 10 Champs and the PAC 10 Champs if they are not in the NC game? or am I thinking of the good ole' days?

Yep. if MSU wins out.. they go to the Rose Bowl since all of their wins are agains Div 1A. so playing YSU this year would hurt us in that case.

if PSU wins they go to the Rose Bowl. Basically, if we win out...we are headed to Fiesta party in AZ.

Not true. If MSU wins out, we would be in a tie with them for the Big 10. We would go to the Rose Bowl because the tie breaker for a 2 way tie is the head to head matchup. The FCS tie breaker is only for a 3 way tie, which I believe isn't even possible now.

I may be wrong but if we win out and MSU wins out we go to the Rose Bowl based on head to head. The Division 1A argument only comes into play if MSU-PSU-OSU are tri-champs. This was obviously before PSU lost to Iowa.
