Iowa 24, Penn St. 23 (Final)

Yes. If MSU and OSU win out. We tie for the Big Ten championship. We get the Rose Bowl bid because of the head to head matchup. If Penn State and us win out, then Penn State gets the Rose Bowl bid for the same reason. But a 10-2 Ohio State team will likely get a BCS at-large bid.

I am .000099% sure if MSU beats PSU they go to the Rose Bowl because we played Youngstown State. So no Rose Bowl for us either way.

Sorry - I'm 100% sure that you're wrong. I've looked up the tie-breaking procedures in the BigTen media guide - the first 2-way tiebreaker is herd-to-head.

If tOSU wins out and MSU beats PSU tOSU gets the automatic Rose Bowl bid.

Nope - because the Buckeyes win the head-to-head tiebreaker. The tiebreaker you cited would only come into play in a three-way tie where the head-to-head tiebreaker goes in a circle among the three teams.

Yes you're right. I was looking at a 3 way tie scenario with PSU, MSU and OSU 1-1 against each other. Didn't take in that PSU would have 2 losses in the conference. Duh.

Easy Bill, I did say 99% :)

You're probably right BB73, but during the tOSU game today, they broke it down. They said in the event of a tie, the tiebreaker goes to the team with the fewest sub-class teams.

I think the confusion may be because ESPN didn't count on an Iowa upset. Now if MSU beats PSU, only MSU and OSU would have 1 Big Ten loss. In that event it is probably head-to-head.

So what I'm trying to to say, is you are right....but I see where the confusion is. ESPN was working in absolutes with an undefeated PSU playing a one-loss MSU in conference play. They (ESPN) was looking too far ahead.

Yes, if MSU beats PSU, they are in the drivers seat b/c they didn't play any sub-class teams. Weird tiebreaker, but so it goes.

Nope. Everyone please stop saying this. I updated tOSU's BCS Bowl possibilities in a sticky thread in the main forum a couple of hours ago in an attempt to avoid this confusion.

The FCS thing was with 3 teams that all had head-to-head wins and losses. A straight head-to-head is the tiebreaker with only 2.

I'm just glad PSU isn't going undefeated and they aren't playing for the BCS title. Their fans at work have been running their mouths for 2 weeks.

I told them "don't blow it at Iowa tomorrow" and they laughed at me.

Who is laughing now? :lol::rofl:

Same thing here I got that at my attorneys office! Some guy that works there was so sure State penn would win,he laughed at me.
:slappy: Who's laughing now beotch?

All this chatter about tiebreakers is premature. Illinois has played us tough and we're going to their place. I know they lost today but PSU fans thought Iowa was a sure win, too. One at a time...beat Illinois.

Oh yeah, most importantly, PSU fans are crying tonight. Thank you, Hawkeyes.

You're right. If we all focus on the Illinois team, it will help our team.
