Well that was a fun 10 days that they actually seemed like a competent MLB team. Masterson...ugh. Not a starter.

CLEVELAND (AP) — The Cleveland Indians dealt outfielder Austin Kearns to the New York Yankees on Friday night in exchange for a player to be named or cash.
Kearns hit .272 with the Indians this season with 18 doubles, one triple, eight home runs and 42 RBIs in 84 games. He was signed to a free-agent minor-league contract on Jan. 5 and has spent the entire season with the Indians before the trade to the Yankees.
Kearns made 63 starts in left field, 12 in right field and four in center field for the Indians.
The Indians did not immediately fill Kearns' spot on the roster. The trade is to be completed on or before Aug. 20.
Cleveland Indians trade Jake Westbrook to St. Louis; get pitching prospect from San Diego in 3-way deal | cleveland.comUpdated: 1:17 p.m.
TORONTO -- The Indians have traded Jake Westbrook to St. Louis in a three-way trade with San Diego.
The Padres received outfielder Ryan Ludwick and the Indians received pitching prospect Corey Kluber, a Class AA right-hander, believed to be the Padres top pitching prospect.
Westbrook was scheduled to start against Toronto today at 1:07 p.m., but was scratched. Rookie Josh Tomlin will start against Toronto on three days rest.
Westbrook is 6-7 with a 4.65 ERA in 21 starts. He missed most of the last two years because of Tommy John surgery on his right elbow.

Cleveland calls up Justin Germano, puts him right to work: Indians Insider | cleveland.comCleveland calls up Justin Germano, puts him right to work: Indians Insider

Paul Hoynes, The Plain Dealer Indians are unlikely to trade him.
TORONTO ? Paranoia runs deep at the baseball trading deadline for non-waiver deals.
The Indians say there's nothing to read into their promotion of Justin Germano on Friday as they switched several bodies on their pitching staff.
Germano, who has six starts at Class AAA Columbus among his 17 appearances, reportedly arrived to help a tired bullpen against the Blue Jays.
But Jake Westbrook is scheduled to start Saturday's 1:07 p.m. game against the Blue Jays. With the trade deadline coming at 4 p.m., it's safe to say if Westbrook starts, he won't be traded.
If Westbrook is traded, Germano will not be starting in his place. The right-hander pitched 2 2/3 innings against the Blue Jays on Friday, striking out three with a walk and a hit allowed.
After watching starters Fausto Carmona and Mitch Talbot pitch a combined four innings Wednesday and Thursday in blowout losses to the Yankees, the Indians needed relievers Friday who could throw more than one inning against Toronto.
Lewis is back with the Indians, the fourth he's been called up this season.
To answer that need, Jensen Lewis and Germano were promoted from Columbus. Reliever Jess Todd was sent back to Columbus, and Talbot was placed on the disabled list with a strained back sustained in his two innings of work Thursday night.
The Indians will need a starter to take Talbot's spot Tuesday against Boston. Germano could get that job, or he could be designated for assignment Saturday when Kerry Wood is expected to be activated. Wood is with the team after making a one-inning rehab appearance for Class AA Akron on Thursday.
If Westbrook isn't traded before Saturday's deadline, the Indians could always move him before Aug. 31. They would have to get waivers on him.

With Westbrook leaving the active roster, the Indians have recalled outfielder Jordan Brown from Triple-A Columbus. Brown, 26, has spent the entire year at AAA Columbus, batting .309 (84-272) with 25 doubles, one triple, six home runs and 63RBI. His average is the third highest in the International League, while his RBI total is tied for fifth despite not beginning his season until April 29 after right knee surgery in early March. Since June 14, he's hit .339 (59-174) with 17 doubles, four home runs and 40RBI in 42 games to raise his average from .255.
The 6-0, 205-pound left-handed outfielder was originally selected by the Indians in the fourth round of the 2006 First-Year Player Draft from the University of Arizona. He spent the entire 2009 season at Triple-A Columbus leading the International League with a .336 average (140-417) and was named a mid-season and post-season All-Star selection. He will make his Major League debut when he appears in a game and will wear #35 and be making his debut at the Major League level.
I knew that I would at least miss one move:) because they were going so fast and furious. A deal for Wood might be tricky since you would have to go through waivers but that takes place in a couple hours so maybe there is still hope. A waiver deal might get tricky with another team blocking the designated team. I still can't understand why they have not brought Gomez back up with the start that he had a couple weeks agobuckeyemania11;1740458; said:Jordan Brown was also called up

Yankees Closing In On Deal For Kerry Wood
By Tim Dierkes [July 31 at 2:23pm CST]
The Yankees are closing in on a deal for Kerry Wood, tweets ESPN's Buster Olney. Wood was just activated from the DL today after dealing with a blister. The 33-year-old righty has a 6.30 ERA, 8.1 K/9, and 5.0 BB/9 on the season in 20 innings. I imagine the Indians would pick up most of the $3.71MM he's still owed.
2:37pm: The deal is done pending commissioner's approval on the dollars the Indians are kicking in, tweets Joel Sherman of the New York Post.
2:45pm: The Indians will receive a player to be named later or cash for Wood, tweets ESPN's Jayson Stark.
2:50pm: The Yankees are picking up about $1.5MM of the $3.71MM owed to Wood, tweets Sherman.
Nix actually hasn't been hitting bad...not great, but not bad...22-91, 6 HR, 11 RBI in July. Definately better than Marte's month: 9-46, 2 HR, 4 RBI.LitlBuck;1740468; said:Nix committed another error in the game but the next guy hit into a double play so no damage but he has committed a few errors since taking over. I hate to say this but A.M. might be a better fielder and Nix has yet to start hitting.
