Indians Tidbits (2010 season)

NFBuck;1740479; said:
Nix actually hasn't been hitting bad...not great, but not bad...22-91, 6 HR, 11 RBI in July. Definately better than Marte's month: 9-46, 2 HR, 4 RBI.
AM was substituted today for Nix in the seventh or eighth inning so they don't have much confidence in Jason defense.

Indians win 2-1 and Perez closed so Wood is definitely gone.

Wood and Peralta in one week! WIN!!!! I hated the Wood signing from the second I heard it and Peralta has been a blight on this franchise for almost his entire time here.

Kearns was a decent enough surprise and it's a major bonus that they ended up flipping him for something. Jake has been a good Indian, but it's time for him to go. He's an innings eater, nothing else.

looks like Gomez will get another shot tomorrow

Tomorrow the Indians are expected to recall right-handed pitcher Jeanmar Gomez to start against the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday, August 1 at 1:07PM ET. He will be making his second Major League start after defeating the Detroit Tigers in his Major League debut on July 18 in Cleveland (7.0IP, 5H, 2R/0ER). Over his last two Triple A starts upon returning to Columbus he has gone 2-0 w/a 1.80 ERA in 2 starts (15.0IP, 13H, 3ER, 1BB, 11K).

It will be interesting to see how Brown performs and as far as I am concerned they can send Huff to the bullpen or some other place. The same might be true of Laffey. Those two guys don't eat up many innings when they are in the starting rotation.
Outfielder Jordan Brown joined the Indians in the fifth inning Saturday. He took Kearns' spot on the roster.

Acta said Brown will DH for Travis Hafner and play some outfield. Hafner has missed the last three games with a sore right shoulder. He said he was going to try to play today.

Jeanmar Gomez took Wood's spot on the roster. He'll start today against the Blue Jays.

Acta said Gomez and Josh Tomlin will stay in the rotation for the time being. They need to add a starter to replace Westbrook, possibly Carlos Carrasco or David Huff, while waiting for Mitch Talbot and Aaron Laffey to come off the disabled list.
