Prospects aren't always just about numbers. Chisenhall's regarded as a better prospect based on talent. A lot of guys mash in the minors, but that's where they max out their talent. Maybe Goedert can break through that ceiling and is one of those sleeper prospects...who knows. I do hope they give him a shot this year because baby huey is fucking awful. Thank God this should be the last year we're subjected to his fat ass. I just wish he was playing half way decent so we could get something for him at the deadline. Right now, I can't fathom anybody wanting him.

Further on Chisenhall/Goedert...somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Chisenhall was drafted as a 2B, so there could be room for both if Goedert earns a spot too.

I understand what you are saying about number not defining a prosect. Chisen? also bats left-handed which is a plus for a infielder.

I did a quick search and Jared was the one who played a little bit at second base. I could never see where Lonnie played any second base at all.

Indians Prospect Insider: Jared Goedert

Saw a twitter that Browne:) might be called up to replace Helfner .

Looked good tonight...we'll see how the weekend goes.

westbrook helping his trade value tonight.

also good to hear that choo may be back sooner than antcipated.

how about tony sipp, after totally falling off of a cliff, coming back like a monster.

there are actually parts of this team that give you confidence. however, these parts will all lay a collective egg next year once some other guys step up, as is the cleveland way.

That has really surprised me. I was convinced he was Fernando Cabrera v2.0.

Wood to the DL
well there went his trade value:!

I think we are starting to see the difference between AAA hitting and hitting in the majors. Brantley is now hitting around 125 and old Louis Valb is sitting around 325 at Columbus. Maybe that's why they are reluctant to bring up some of the younger guys who are really hitting for average at Columbus.

three things:

1. kerry wood going on the DL probably helps his trade value with the way he's been pitching.

2. matt laporta is an example of how another stint in AAA can get things going in the right direction. carlos santana hasn't had much trouble making the jump either. with some guys it's far more mental than physical or technical. for some guys, it's a matter of pressure. brantley knows he's likely to get sent down once choo is back unless he makes a big impression. he presses, and digs himself deeper in the hole. or, maybe brantley is just another name in the long list of AAAA players that cleveland has acquired over the years.

3. as i've said hundreds of times, as a small market team with payroll restrictions, the two places you cannot afford to dump large amounts of money are the closer and the DH. guess what 2 positions encompass roughly 40% of cleveland's payroll. brilliant.

I almost agree with your latter two points but do not quite understand your remark about Woods trading value being increased by him being on the DL .

Might disagree with you a little on point number three. I don't necessarily think you need a big time DH to win a championship. It sure as hell would help but I do not think it is a necessity.

I think the Wood comment was tongue-in-cheek.

Also, he's saying you don't need to spend big money on a DH.
