Indians Tidbits (2010 season)

Holy sh%#, what the hell just happened. I know they've sucked...well, pretty much all year, but taking the Tigers behind the woodshed for a 4 game beatdown is pretty sweet.

What's happened is the Tribe got rid of Branyon (why Seattle wanted him is a true mystery!). Look it up: Indians have a winning record since dumping Branyon and bringing Laporta back.

i've seen gomez start twice at huntington. both times he was slapped around by pedestrian AAA teams. his location was shoddy, and his stuff was mediocre. today was definitely an anomaly from him based on what i've seen so far. he also never got above 89 on the gun once in the 2 starts I saw.
However, he did pitch a no-hitter last year so he must have something but of course that was AA. I guess I would've liked to see him get at least one more start before they sent him back to Columbus. I mean Masterson and Huff aren't exactly prime time pitchers.

With the trade deadline coming expect a bunch of roster moves over the next couple weeks.
I know the above quote is from Zippercat but I was wondering who he thought we would have that a contender might be interested in except maybe for Kearns and I am not sure that I am willing to give up Westbrook for just prospects.

There's really no point in keeping Westbrook around if you can get anything decent for him. He's an aging pitcher that defines the term "mediocre". On a team looking to contend, he can be an asset because he does eat innings, but on a rebuilding team, you're better off getting more fertilizer for the farm. Kearns might draw some interest, but he's been bad-to-below average since his hot start. Other than them, Fausto's name has surfaced occasionally, but I could not get behind that. Dead Wood is out now that he's made his 1,267th trip to the DL (bravo, Shapiro, bravo) and I doubt anybody would want Baby Huey.

WHOTF is T Crowe ?????
Trevor Crowe. On most teams, he's a 5th OF.

Gas Can Lewis enters the game and promptly gives up a home run to the first batter  same old Gas Can
Yeah, he could make a pretty good living as a batting practice chucker. Unfortunately, straight as an arrow fastballs don't get you far in the majors unless you can approach triple digits...

crowe was the 5th outfielder on this team at the start of the year. injuries are the only reason he's playing. actually, he hasn't been all that bad really. if you had choo and 2005-2008 grady, crowe could be your third outfielder.
