Indians Tidbits (2010 season)

Un-fucking-believable. They have the easiest stretch of schedule this year and they crap the bed.

Seattle 1-2
Baltimore 1-2
Kansas City 0-2

2-6 combined against the 3 of the 4 worst teams in the AL.
They're still shitty. That said, given the talent/experience level on this team, the fact that they don't have the worst record in baseball is a minor miracle.

this comment was true on opening day. this comment is even more true after the injury situation this team has faced this season.

Tribe sportin' 3 errors already...hard to believe it's only 1-0 Royals.

On a side note, has anybody seen that Hanes commercial with Jordan? The one where he's on an airplane rocking the Hitler stache?

hey they actually won!

Justin Germano has risen from total obscurity and allowed 0 earned runs in 11 2/3 (8 appearances) since being called up to the majors

Marte was a "defensive" replacement again (seriously, you cant make this [censored] up, this guy wont [censored]ing go away) the result- A Marte (11, field)

he was a "defensive" replacement at 3rd, where he has committed 9 errors in 23 games (18 starts) and has a glorious .850 fielding % this season

Masterson getting bent over as usual

If he is anywhere near the Indians future rotation plans after this season, I'm going to personally fly to Cleveland and Nancy Kerrigan his elbow. He has no place in a major league rotation whatsoever. He has replaced baby huey as the Indian I hate the most. Seriously, my blood starts boiling when I see his name.

Good lord, this team is totally collapsing. Looking at the lineup they're trotting out there, this should come as no surprise. I'm just glad we have somebody in charge now that appears to see the importance of the draft because there is a major dearth of talent at the ML level and they're going to have to do some serious drafting and developing to get competitive again.

Indians Prospect Insider: Indians Acquire McAllister To Complete Kearns Trade

The Cleveland Indians today announced the club has acquired right-handed pitcher Zach McAllister from the New York Yankees to complete the July 30th trade that sent outfielder Austin Kearns to the Bronx for a player to be named.

McAllister, 22, has spent the entire 2010 season to date at Triple-A Scranton, going 8-10 with a 5.09ERA in 24 starts and one complete game (132.2IP, 165H, 82R/75ER, 38BB, 88K). He had a five-start win streak from May 9-June 1 with a 2.41ERA during the five start span (1CG, 33.7IP, 32H, 9ER, 5BB, 18K, .258avg) and has fanned 25 in 24.1 August innings. He is currently 11th in the International League in innings pitched (132.2). He was a non-roster invite this past spring for the Yankees.

The 6-5, 230-pound right-hander entered the 2010 season ranked by Baseball America as the 5th-best prospect and as having the "Best Control" in the Yankees organization. Last year, he spent the entire campaign with Double-A Trenton where he went 7-5 with a 2.23ERA in 22 starts (121.0IP, 98H, 39R/30ER, 33BB, 96K, .220avg). His ERA led the Eastern League as he was named the Yankees Minor League Pitcher of the Year. McAllister was originally selected by the Yankees in the 3rd round of the 2006 First-Year Player Draft in the third round of the 2006 Major League Baseball Draft out of Illinois Valley Central High School. He owns a career minor league ERA of 3.40 in 98 games/86GS (511.0IP, 511H, 193ER). His father, Steve, is a scout for the Arizona Diamondbacks.

This guy isn't going to help us if this continues through next year. We will need some Johnny VanderMeer performances.

I don't think anybody expected much from that deal. Kearns was in a nosedive. That was more a move to make room for youngsters than to nab a prospect.

the fact that they got more than some base line chalk and some pine tar for Kearns is a win. This kid was fairly dominant climbing the ranks, but has struggled once he got to AAA. In typical Yankees fashion, they just dumped him as they don't really bother developing guys that much anymore.

The word was that the Yankees wanted a fireballer to put in the back end of the rotation and this kid is more of a sinker baller that ranges from 91-94. So, when he didn't transition to what they wanted, instead of using what got him that far, they cut bait.

Sounds a lot like Jake Westbrook, also nabbed from the Yankees. If he ends up in that ballpark, it's another Shapiro steal. He may be a moron at drafting and made some unreal FA blunders, but the guy can swindle some teams for vets at deadline time, that's the one area he's earned the benefit of the doubt.

Wow, what does that say when he was our best hitter for about 1/3 of the season
