Indians Playoff Hopes (Merged)

Tough Tough lost today with everyone else winning.. 5-4 Royals with the GW hit coming on a ball Sizemore lost in the sun. Hopefully we can go and take at least two out of three from the Devil Rays. With the White Sox playin the tigers it looks like were gonna have to sweep them in the last series if we want the Central

The Tribe is still in great shape, they control their own destiny which makes life one helluva'lot easier. If they win out, the worst they can do in the central is a playoff game with Chicago next monday. As far as the wild card goes. either Boston or the Yankees are going to lose 2 or 3 more games as they play each other to finish the season. The way I figure, if they win 2/3 against Tampa and 2/3 against Chicago, the worst they can do is a one game playoff against Boston or the Yankees.

I'll post today to combat the theory about Indians fans only posting after wins. Yesterday was a hard loss. I checked it earlier and they were up 3-0, then last night I saw they lost. I've heard it's hard to sweep a 4 game series, but I was hoping they would. The only way they are going to take the Central now is to sweep the White Sox. If the White Sox are able to lock up the Central by this weekend they might pass up Buehrle in the rotation to have him ready for game 1 of the playoffs. I would like to see the Tribe with a 1 game lead on both AL East team going into the weekend. At least one of them will have to lose 2 more games.

Come on Tribe!!! Sweep the Rays!!!

Well... at least I'll get to see the games on TV down here for the series with TB. The DRays have been giving good teams fits in the second half of the season and their young players are playing well. It should be an intersting series but I don't think they'll sweep them (I hope I'm wrong).

The Indians and White Sox should form an alliance to keep the Yankees out of the playoffs. Lose enough to the Devil Rays so the series with Chicago doesn't matter, and the WS will tank the rest of the games for you to win the wild card. Then we have to hope for the Red Sox to not blow it.

If you agree, I'll run it by management.

If the White Sox can sweep the Detroit series one loss buy the Tribe would give the Sox a 4 game lead and make the final series meaningless to the Sox.

If the Indians can win 5 of 6 they will make the playoffs since either the Yanks or Red Sox will lose at least 2 more games.

thats what im sayin. tank the DRays series and we will tank the finale.

Who needs to tank??? NY or Boston has a guarenteed 2 loses left in that final series. So that means the Indians cannot lose 2 or more games or they will be out.

It is quite simple White Sox fans... make sure your team sweeps the Tigers... maybe one loss but you should sweep the pitiful Tigers who have given up on the season as the Royals even swept them. You sweep the Tigers you clinch a playoff spot, that simple. The Indians sweep the Devil Rays and all you have to do is win 1 game in the final series to win the division. If you lose all 3 to the Indians? You still go to the wild card.

Well... No one said this was going to be easy...

Bad news...

The Red Sox and Yankees both have very favorable pitching matchups tonight to trun this thing into a 3 way tie.

The Good... Shilling and Johnson will now likely face each other in the final series.

The way I see it.. the Tribe should be in if they can win 4 of 6... at worst they will get a tie for the wild card in that scenario... and I'll take it if I have to.

Forget Catching the White Sox... if it turns out in the last series thats on the line, fine... but the key is hopefully to be a game up-- again- on the East teams going into the last weekend and have them take care of each other...

Unless the Red Sox win the division outright, I am pulling for a four way tie for the divisions/wild card. Just for kicks. :)

(I see the Red Sox and Yanks being even anyway: Orioles have mailed in their season badly the last few games-- that yanks will sweep the four games or go 3-1; the sox will take 3-1 or 2-2 against toronto, and then 2-1 against the yanks, leaving a tie. . .)

So if the Indians just tie the ChiSox with the same record as us. . .

It's hard to believe that the Indians have the 3rd best record in baseball with a week to go, yet they still might not make the playoffs. Let's hope that they can win at least four of the final six and lock up a spot in the post-season.
