Indians Playoff Hopes (Merged)

Oh.. anything can happen at this point I think.

But you're right... they are running out of games....

Meanwhile, so is one of the East teams... since one of them is already 2 behind us in the loss column.

Yeah, if we had won last night we would have had an easy road to the Wild Card. If the Tribe can get 1 up on the Yanks and Sox before the weekend they will own the WC.

Hey, now. Don't stop believing just yet. With Boston and New York duking it out this weekend, I'm still confident the Tribe can pull out at least the wildcard.

And call me a dreamer, but I'm still cautiously optimistic about the Central, too. I'd love to see the sweep this weekend.

The Indians will fucking blow it...mark my word. Their last four losses have been by--take a guess--one run. They're back to their early season form. There is absolutely no reason to be losing two in a row to a shit-team that's 25 games under .500, with everything that's at stake. We have to beat TB tomorrow and then sweep the White Sox to win the division. If we lose to TB, Chicago is guaranteed at least a tie.

I don't think its possible that the Indians blow it. As bad as this series was for them, the Detroit series was even worse for the White Sox.

If Cleveland goes 3-1 in the last 4, they're guaranteed to play at least a playoff game on Monday. 3-1 is very do-able considering they'd basically be playing a White Sox team with the Division clinched.

Hey Sloopy: Did you get tickets today for the Yankees playoffs?

I got 2 seats for their home game four in the league championship (hoping they play the Sox and hoping it goes to that game. . .)

9:00 am tomorrow they sell the games 1 and 2 for home for division and league series. . .

Cleveland has lost the first two games of a three-games series, at home, to the next-to-the-worst team in the league. Chicago has won at one of the first three games, on the road, against a better-than-Tampa Detroit team.

Cleveland shouldn't even be in a "playoff possible" scenario...they should've waxed Tampa Bay. Tampy Bay is playing for nothing, on the road, and has a record 25 games worse than Cleveland, while conversely the Tribe gets a shit team at home in games they absolutely have to win. I can't believe Cleveland is only 3-6 this year against such a shit team.

kinch: "Hey Sloopy: Did you get tickets today for the Yankees playoffs?"

No. Actually, I've only been to two Playoff games in my life. Either Game 1 or Game 2 of the 1999 ALDS, Yankees vs. Texas. I was in the Leftfield bleachers, about a mile away from the field. I think it was Game 2, but I was too far away from the field to remember the game vividly.

The other one was the 2001 ALCS against Seattle. It was the only game we lost in the Series, and it was a blow-out: 14-3. But, I did have seats right behind home plate & I took a very, very, very smokin hot chick to the game.

We left early and went to Stan's and got drunk. There was some rowdy topless chick in the back shakin her tits ..

Anyway, those're "Sloopy's Playoff Game Memories."

My Uncle works on Wall Street, so he used to get me absolutely super prime seats for any game I wanted in any sport, but in the last three years the demand for Yankee tickets is red hot. Even that pipeline has dried up for me ..

Oh, no question about it. Bad job by the Tribe. But, the two teams they're competing against (the Yankees & Boston) have to play each other. One of those teams must lose at least two games in the Series, which gives Cleveland a leg up. Now that the Yanks have pulled a game ahead of Boston, Cleveland absolutely has a playoff spot by the balls if the Yanks take 2 of 3 at Fenway.

I agree with you, but Tampa has played the contenders very tough this season (for the most part). They dominated the Yanks (and Randy Johnson especially) all season before the sweep in this last series. They've got a very talented & pesky offensive team, they're playing with 0 pressure, and Sweet Lou can always get teams up for big games, no matter how bad they are.
