Indians Playoff Hopes (Merged)

AKAK: "Why Panic?... that's what you do when you've lost 10 of 14 down the stretch."

Yeah, but I don't even think they're playing that poorly. They're getting outplayed by hotter teams right now.

If they can sneak into the Playoffs one way or the other, they have enough pitching for a shot at the Pennant.

Well, I think that's why there is reason to panic.. everyone... except the Orioles and Tigers are hotter than them.... They lsot to a twins team that mailed it in about the tiem that Shannon Stewart went out for the season. Sure it was Johann Santana... but when your guy gives up one run, you have to find a way to get two... if you are a playoff team, and they aren't.

Plus, in that 3rd game against the Tribe...with a chance to all but put things away.... they got egged by the Tribe's 5th Starter, while former Cy Young Candidate Pitcher got Shelled.

These are things to panic about.

Another big win.. A little OT but who do you all feel will win the AL Cy Young. Colon is the only one with 20 wins but I think if the Angels dont make the playoffs he shouldn't get it. Lee is 18-4 but has a 3.90 ERA. Right now there isn't a clear cut favorite. What I find funny is Milwood is leading the league in ERA and he's 8-11.

How bout Hafners play right now 6 straight games with a homerun and almost 20 RBI's in his last 6 games.

Well the tribe just keeps winning, still 1.5 games behind the WS and 1.5 games ahead of Boston.

Red Sox would host Indians in tiebreaker playoff

Saturday, September 24, 2005

<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width="100%" border=0><TBODY><TR><TD>
NEW YORK (AP) - The Boston Red Sox won a coin flip Friday and would host the Cleveland Indians if the teams finish with the same record and a tiebreaker playoff is needed to determine the AL wild-card team.

The Philadelphia Phillies would host the Atlanta Braves if they finish tied for the NL East lead and a tiebreaker is necessary. The San Diego Padres would host the San Francisco Giants if the teams wind up in a tie for first in the NL West.

Baseball conducted the additional coin flips as races tightened. Twelve other coin flips took place Sept. 12.
