Impending Assistant Coach Vacancies

It is also a chance for him to get experience against the top team in his new conference
That won't matter, Hafley won't have close to the talent at BC that he has now. He can have the Clemson playbook, Lawrence can tell him the play that is about to be run, and BC would still get blown out

I see that. But he had his money and contract..so his allegiance is BC now. He has to be thinking coaches recruiting office staff Strength and Conditioning transfer portal etc
You could say the same about Herman in 2014. I doubt coaches will try and burn bridges with high profile programs. Hafley doesn't know if he could be the OSU HC down the road or not, or ruin a relationship by mailing it in. AD's all over watch for things like this. The way Manny Diaz did Temple, if/when he flames at Cryami, he will fall quite far based on how he deserted Temple

Put me in the camp that doesn't really want a guy as DC unless he has proven he is a great DC not just a great position coach. Freeman checks the boxes for me as far as proving he can run an entire unit at a high level.

I think Freeman would be a great choice, but that's like saying (and much worse) that "I don't want a HC unless he has proven he is a great HC and not just a great coordinator"

Urban Meyer and Dabo Swinney were never even coordinators - potential ability and greatness isn't defined by the position you have currently, and Ryan needs to be a step ahead and I fully expect him to be.

The motherfucker can go stand in the corner with Tom Herman as far as I’m concerned.

There are ways to do things and there is the way he went about it.
I’m sorry what did he do that was wrong. And no I’m not being an asshole here. I want to understand what the thought process is.

To me the early signing period has a lot of negatives and this is one of them.

I’m all good with it too. Can’t fault anyone for wanting to better their families position in life. Now if he went for a lateral move, I might have different thoughts. This is a Power 5 HC in a major market, in a region he’s from. More money and perks. Do your thing Hafley.

Think people miss the point about Hafley and his desire to finish strong here. He could have all the desire In the world and every human has a certain amount of time and capacity to focus intently on a small handful of things at once.

Haf will absolutely not be the same for the rest of his time here because it’s unpossible but I just hope he has enough in the tank to finish strong enough to win it all.

If the dude collapses at the end and needs bed rest for a few weeks and BC suffers for it..........Who cares.

Seriously, he has no tOSU ties other than coaching here. He has a chance to minimally double his income. And, if he is successful (8-3, 9-2) at BC, he is a HC at wherever (USC, pros) in a couple of years.

Hopefully he was as honest as he could be with Ryan and recruits.
