Impending Assistant Coach Vacancies

Put me in the camp that doesn't really want a guy as DC unless he has proven he is a great DC not just a great position coach. Freeman checks the boxes for me as far as proving he can run an entire unit at a high level.

I think Freeman would be a great choice, but that's like saying (and much worse) that "I don't want a HC unless he has proven he is a great HC and not just a great coordinator"

Urban Meyer and Dabo Swinney were never even coordinators - potential ability and greatness isn't defined by the position you have currently, and Ryan needs to be a step ahead and I fully expect him to be.

The motherfucker can go stand in the corner with Tom Herman as far as I’m concerned.

There are ways to do things and there is the way he went about it.
I’m sorry what did he do that was wrong. And no I’m not being an asshole here. I want to understand what the thought process is.

To me the early signing period has a lot of negatives and this is one of them.

I’m all good with it too. Can’t fault anyone for wanting to better their families position in life. Now if he went for a lateral move, I might have different thoughts. This is a Power 5 HC in a major market, in a region he’s from. More money and perks. Do your thing Hafley.

Think people miss the point about Hafley and his desire to finish strong here. He could have all the desire In the world and every human has a certain amount of time and capacity to focus intently on a small handful of things at once.

Haf will absolutely not be the same for the rest of his time here because it’s unpossible but I just hope he has enough in the tank to finish strong enough to win it all.

If the dude collapses at the end and needs bed rest for a few weeks and BC suffers for it..........Who cares.

Seriously, he has no tOSU ties other than coaching here. He has a chance to minimally double his income. And, if he is successful (8-3, 9-2) at BC, he is a HC at wherever (USC, pros) in a couple of years.

Hopefully he was as honest as he could be with Ryan and recruits.

He made no multi year commitment to Ryan Day, and by all measures he has been working his ass off on the recruiting scene even through this. He isn't walking away, he is finishing what he started. All of this while likely tripling his salary and the chance to lead a program that is in a weak ACC and certainly has the ability to be a steady 8 or 9 win program year in and year out. He did an absolutely remarkable job while here and has earned every bit of congratulations he will get while heading out the door. I will root for him from here on out until he gets his turn to get his ass kicked by the good guys. Okay I'll hang up and listen.
