Impending Assistant Coach Vacancies

Urban to coach Day...."well, as you know, here at tOSU, we despise ttun, so I've made a habit of doing something every day to give us a little better chance to beat them come November."

Coach Day: "Coach, Hold my beer. I've got this."

Wow! We've just kicked their asses for a second time this year!

Before we get too gloaty, we KNOW we can kick their ass with them having the guys we just poached. We don't know for sure (although it seems highly likely) that we'll kick their ass with whoever they bring in as replacements. We don't think that, for example, Marcus Freeman would ever go up there do we?

For the right price Marcus Freeman would coach ISIS.

Coaches are hired guns. Would Corey Raymond even be listening to OSU if it wasn't for the ridiculous amount of money and/or title they are throwing at him?

Are you implying that ISIS is more loathsome than scUM?

I know that they're hired guns, but I like to think that it would at least take more for him to go there than to go to other places. As for Raymond, I would think that he's mainly listening to OSU to get LSU to throw him a nice wad to keep him, but I can hope to be wrong.

it’s possible. But if they match what has supposedly been offered by Ohio State, they will have half of their assistant coach money from 2018 tied up in two guys. I’m not sure LSU will pony up and pay 3.5 million to two assistants.

And once LSU offers 1 mil after checking the couch cushions... OSU should come back and go 1.5 mil.

Whatever LSU offers we should come back hire. Force Raymond to deny more money to stay. We have the money since we save off Urban so make it happen.

Imo, if Raymond turns down ~ 850k from Ohio State, I think Day needs to move on to Buckley. Imo, Buckley is just as good of a coach and at a school like Ohio State would kill it in recruiting. He’s been at Miss. St. and Louisville. MSU gave up 8 passing touchdowns all of last year. And when he was at UofL they had a nasty secondary.

It has also been pointed out that there will be a ripple reaction amongst LSU assistants if they match $1mil for Raymond- they’d have to bump up all the other assistants as well to prevent a revolt which they almost certainly can’t afford to do.

It seems like LSU has been a bit stingy (Raymond and Busch making under $500k) and remarkably inequitable (DC making $2.5mil) with their assistant coaches and now hopefully Ohio State can take advantage in a big way.

And also, as I pointed out awhile ago, there is just no way that coaching for Orgeron can be an enjoyable experience, right?
