I'm warming up to the the Mattison hire after some more thought. Day is a first year coach in a pressure cooker. If I were to put myself in his shoes, I'm not sure I'd want to deal with the risk of having a young up and comer DC on staff at this stage when you have someone like Mattison who has coached before and has been successful. Concentrate on other things and leave the defense up to a veteran like Mattison.

Well he got both. It really seems like he got Mattison to help his guy be ready and to a leader of the D like Schiano was for him in the absence of Meyer.
