Good game guys and good luck moving forward
Illinois should feel very good about that game. That QB is really good.

Good game guys and good luck moving forward
Quick recap of the posters on BuckeyePlanet's message board.......a board that has a rule to not bash players/coaches/team. A board that has specific violations for Gameday threads. A board that, for some reason, allows for its own thread for bitching, whining, and moaning during games:
- Ohio State won a football game 42 - 19.
- Jeremiah Smith tied the record for most receiving TDs in a game with 4.
- Jeremiah Smith set a personal record of receiving yards and receptions.
- Julian Sayin looked elite throwing, and added some clutch runs that fans have been clamoring for.
The same fans you would expect spent the whole game throwing a hissy fit, because they didn't win every single snap. As if the other team was trying to win.
And again, the team we all love won a conference game by 3 TDs.

Tough crowd. Coaches would kill to go 8/12 on 3rd down. If McCuin catches a ball that hit him in the hands, it’s 7/11 because that next 3rd down doesn’t happen.REFLECTIONS
6 TD drives: 75, 93, 87, 67, 80, 43 yard drives.
518 total yards
Julian and Jeremiah were on fire today
75% completion percentage
8 for 12 on 3rd downs. Better but not good. 67 %
2 for 2 on 4th down
151 rushing yards at 4.7 per carry. Both Jackson's ran hard
Julian got a TD and a few first downs running the ball. Happy about this.
Can't recall us giving up a sack
Not happy with the D
Yes, but honestly the D was probably the first question in his mind, and as HC, it should be moving forward.Yeah being 2/3 for third down would lead the country by a mile.
Offense did great all day.
What I liked was they varied their approach. They went run heavy for an 8 minute drive and then sped up for a couple 90 second drives too. Then Julian with his legs was a whole new level of good to see.
I won’t even go over the defense. It’s good to get a win!
Also the first question to Ryan was about why the defense sucked and he pointed out that he knew the first question would be negative even though the offense was the highlight of the day
Yeah as it should be. I’m pretty worried about the Iowa running back next week in Kinnick.Yes, but honestly the D was probably the first question in his mind, and as HC, it should be moving forward.
It's going to be interesting to see if Patricia can pull this D together.Last year spoiled me
IMO the DL and the LBs just don't have the foot speed of the elite we lost
so they have to function much more in sync to make up for it
Significant miscommunication between the whole defense but when you lose what we did gonna take time
but I hope something miraculous happens before we enter the skid rows of the remaining schedule
Those are realistic concerns.Yeah as it should be. I’m pretty worried about the Iowa running back next week in Kinnick.
The defense for Iowa is going to do better than Illinois so we can’t afford to give up 20 or so.
While last year’s D had outright freaks, even for OSU, it’s hard to know if this year’s edition is really lacking footspeed or are just playing slow because they’re inexperienced. I tend to assume that we have the athletes, if perhaps not freaks, but they’ve got to start playing decisively and downhill.Last year spoiled me

Ah I don’t know. They got some damn missiles out there but I think we are nearing the point where they just have to let the young kids play.Last year spoiled me

Fair point. We lost a lot of talent on defense and its unrealistic to expect a similar defensive result. But then again, if we want a championship run (or a chance at one with our schedule), they've got to improve a lot on the front end and fast, or there will be at least 3 losses this season. Hopefully Patricia can get it fixed, but my concern is we just don't have the horses to do it on the DL and there's no championship team with an average or worse DL.While last year’s D had outright freaks, even for OSU, it’s hard to know if this year’s edition is really lacking footspeed or are just playing slow because they’re inexperienced.
