If defensive staff changes are coming, who should OSU be looking to hire?

I may be remembering wrong, but didn't LJSr have some less than flattering things to say about the Tressel administration and their relationship/treatment of African American student athletes? I believe this was a major criticism of his recruiting philosophy.

If true (and again, I'm probably misremembering), why would A) He want to accept a position at OSU, particularly one that may be an attempt to meet a minority quota? and B) Why would OSU want anyone with this history on their staff?

Feel free to delete this if I'm as off base as I hope I am... if that makes sense.

Possibilities
1.) Maybe it didn't come up during the interview process?

2.) This isn't the Tressel regime?

3.) LJ wanted to continue working?

I understand why people don't want Johnson, but at the same time, let's be real here, if you think we've pulled the caliber of guys we have for the last few decades without a few nasty, underhanded recruiting tactics, you're lying to yourself. It's a dirty game and people do dirty things. I'd rather have someone as good at it as Johnson is on our side than against us.

Pros: Great recruiter. Great teacher of football/developer of talent. Plenty of experience.

Cons: Reportedly dishonestly played the race card vs. OSU on the recruiting trail. Possibly (probably?) remained quiet about little boys being raped in showers in order to protect his job.

Hmmm, let's see. Uh, no thanks. Some things are more important than football.

Has everyone already forgotten the abysmal year the D had? ....and then we lose the best coach on that side of the ball. This is big business folks and from a purely business decision this looks like an absolutely great hire. Especially if coupled with the right DC. Put it this way: if you were not a Buckeye fan and were an outsider looking in you would say LJ was a perfect hire and there really isn't much of an argument. So, why does that change just because we are Buckeye fans? I also tend to think if the man had the exact same resume coupled with the same hatred from other teams in the conference regarding negative recruiting, etc. we would be his biggest defender.

* Assuming he had knowledge of the Sandusky stuff and looked the other way is an absolutely huge leap. Sorry but I just think that kind of talk is way off base. Who knows what he knew? Unless I see fact to the contrary that type comment just seems like pure speculation.

Whether fans like it or not, Larry Johnson Sr is set to be THE Ohio state's next d line coach. Waste time bitching if you want. Or get over it and embrace the man as one of our own now. He recruited negatively and played the race card, blah blah blah. Hes OUR coach now. And if we win the big ten title next year and hopefully an NC, a lot of these posts all of us will have forgotten about or laughed

Apples to oranges. To the best of my knowledge, Urban was never part of a staff that included child molesters, i.e., there is no reason to think that Urban was ever part of a child molestation cover-up.

Stop flinging that around. Do you think he would've been kept at PSU if he was included? You're trying to find any reason to not like the hire.
