Idea to Redout Penn State

almost 3,000 people in support of it on facebook, and the idea was proposed about 30 hours ago.

It also looks like we may sell $5 T-shirts with 100% profit going to columbus childrens hospital.

And how many of those 3,000 will actually show up at the game?

Still, I hope you sell a lot of shirts to help out the children's hospital...

The offical motto/name of the 'movement' is now "A Sea of Scarlet". The facebook group has 3,500 members and has existed for 43 hours.

I received and replied to a short message from the Block-O president who said he is looking to send the idea up the chain of command in the athletic office.

This is the 2nd place I posted the idea (after facebook) so I'll keep you guys up to date.

for this to work you are going to have to have mass quantities for sale outside of the stadium right before the game, and you will likely need a permit for that. i definitely think it is possible. the phoenix suns had everyone in the whole arena wearing orange for the playoffs this year, but they were successful b/c they gave out the shirts to everyone as they walked in. if you are feeling really ambitious maybe you could look into having a local business sponsoring this and give out the shirts for free.

Nationwide gave out free towels, rain ponchos, fleece blankets, noisemakers, and more last year on Lane Ave. You'd think they'd be happy to print up scarlet t-shirts with a block O on the front and small Nationwide logo on the back. At least people would wear those... I have about 15 Nationwide towels in my garage and basement that I use to clean the wheels of my car.

Michigan has a really unique idea:

Michigan is asking fans to wear maize for two "Maize Out" games this season. Wisconsin (Sept. 23) and Michigan State (Oct. 7) games are "Maize Out" games, but fans are encouraged to wear maize to every game. The athletic department plans to give away prizes to random fans wearing the color.

Note: If a fan doesn't happen to wear "maize" he/she can just have the person next to them piss on their shirt to make it maize (or piss) colored.

For the Washington game in 2003 my brother's client's company passed out rally towels at the gates. They kept huge storage boxes behind each gate and had about 2 - 4 people per gate. Right before you hand your ticket you got a towel. I don't know who you have to talk to to get permission to do this. Are you trying to get everyone in the stadium to wear scarlet? Or just the student section? I think if it's just the student section it won't be impressive at all...you need like, everyone on one side of the stadium to wear scarlet at the very least.

Not the biggest fan of the idea, but don't let the nay sayers get you down. Work out the details and execute your plan bro.

Also, the plan to sell shirts for 5 to benefit Childrens Hospital is a great idea, and I am willing to bet you can use that for a lot of leverage for setting up outside the gates and with local businesses.

Good Luck
