Idea to Redout Penn State

hmm

I see I got some mixed reviews here.

Luckily, the group on facebook seems to be growing strongly, and I've gotten many personal messages from people who love the idea.

Also, the problem with thinking of something origional is that there is a chance not everyone will understand or go for it. Everyone wearing the same color is easy to do, and more people are likely to participate than, say... wear referee uniforms.

Regardless of how my idea turns out, I'd be perfectly happy if OSU just won the game (and all the other ones!)

First, I don't have tickets, yet, to the Penn State game. So maybe I can't play your game.

Second, I usually wear an OSU jersey to the game. I guess so that I'm ready to go in the game, in case of an emergency, or something like that. So if you try this during another game, I'll likely be an involuntary participant.

Third, to tell you the truth, I don't like the idea. Maybe we should all go back to 3rd grade and color-coordinate our clothes with our friends and the people who aren't dressed like us can feel like outsiders. I have nothing wrong with you, Sea of Scarlet. If you and 20,000 other fans like the idea, then go for it. We just have a difference of opinion on this topic.

Personally, I think that 100,000 fans screaming is much more intimidating than color-coordinated fans. If the fans had any impact on last year's game, it was because of the noise they generated - not the clothes they wore.

I agree...how about right after the 3rd quarter ends, play the "Electric Slide" over the speakers and everyone in the stands does the dance.

Its electric, boogey woogey woogey woogey....

Nobody else does anything like that right?

Everyone will be jumping around like they are drunk on whiskey!!

stop badgering us with that idea.

Actually, I agree that we should redoubt Penn State.

Since they lost their star QB, most of both lines and their secondary, I doubt them once again.

Or to use the word more appropriately as a noun, Ohio Stadium will be a redoubt against the attacks of the Nittany Lion football team, and our Buckeyes will surely be redoubtable.

As a current student I don't really see the need for this. First of all, PSU's student section is ALL of their students. Students don't get season tickets like we do, their seats are given on a first come, first serve basis (hence the Paternoville campouts days before they played us), like Block O. While their stadium holds ~107,000 their student section is ~25,000. Ohio State sold ~31,000 student tickets this year - a much higher student to non-student ratio. You could easily fill the east side of the 'Shoe with just students. However, that won't happen because, unlike at PSU, other people actually want to go to Ohio State games.

In any case, I'm pretty sure folks will be pumped up at a chance for revenge against the Nittany Lions. We will fuck them up.

Again, the vast majority of fans already wear scarlet to games. Did you even look at the photo posted earlier? If your idea is to drum up support for the team, just have those in the student section cheer louder...most are already wearing scarlet anyway.

I'm the only person out of all of the OSU people I know who never had a class in Denney Hall.

I did take the Praxis there though.

I wasn't missing much.

They fixed up the interior a few years ago, but it's still the same ugly 70s-ish box on the outside--incidentally, most of the interior has been redded-out. :) It used to look somewhat like a horror movie insane asylum.
