I have $2000, buy me a TV...

I see a major difference between LCD and Plasma, and the LCD looks 1000 times sharper, much better color, and less pixelation. I picked up a vizio 37" LCD, and I absolutely love the thing. My dad just got a 50" panasonic plasma, and it looks nowhere near as good.

Are you freaking serious?

I was all set to get a LCD but when I saw it side by side with a plasma, the plasma was clearer and brighter so I went with it instead.

Although the LCDs have gotten better, the plasmas still have the edge in picture quality. My next tv will be a Sony or Pioneer plasma.

that panasonic he got was one of the highest rated plasmas, and it looks nowhere near as good as my little vizio. The plasmas are grainy and pixelated, especially on standard feed......but even on high def. Just goin by what I see.

Your vizio probably looks better b/c it is smaller. All smaller TV's have a sharper quality but my 42 inch plasma Samsung has no pixelation whatsover. I see that mainly with rear projection TV's.

Pixelation, or the lack thereof is chiefly tied to one thing - the chip used to decode and then smooth the incoming signals.

The prevalence of pixelation also depends on the quality of the incoming signal. Paradoxically, "Full HD" - such as an OTA signal, or, for that matter a BluRay or HD-DVD signal, may tell you less about the ability to display signals that are transmitted in a format different from your monitor's capacity.

Say that you have a 1080p capable display (the gold standard) it can still display a poor quality picture when viewing a native 720p source, with artefacts or pixelation, if the video chip hasn't got high quality low-loss algorithms built in. (Same goes for a 720p "upconverted to 1080p (or on older devices 1080i)).

Pixelation is not intrinsically linked to the display technology when other factors are on par.

Both signals are comcast cable :p

Mind you I am not sayin that the Plasma looks bad by any means. It has a very good picture. Just sayin that sharpness, brightness, etc.......doesnt look near as good as LCD's I have seen

What have you been looking at, WalMart plasmas?

Sony's, Samsungs, Panasonics. Same with LCD. See a major difference. Just seems like the LCD's are much more crisp. Color is much better. I guess it could be other factors, but I have never seen a plasma that I liked near as much.

WOW, I can honestly say that I couldn't disagree more.

But hey, to each his own.

Well hell I wouldnt kick either of them out of bed

I got my LCD for $500. My dad paid $1700 for his plasma. Of course he went to the one place I told him NOT to go, but he never listens to me.

Comparing a 50 inch to a 37 inch isn't really a good comparison if you ask me.
